I got it now.

But I must say Andy, what with this and the weather in 2005 posting Iam convinced that you really do have too much time on your hands.

May I suggest that we run a situations vacant thread.

This one is a motor racing link and pretty sombre viewing it makes too. Does anyone know anything about this? Seems to be a GT type race held in the Far East or Japan. It's not for the squeamish, so you have been warned.

From the title of the site and the sombre music, think the guy driving the 2nd car didn't make it.
One clip I don't fancy rewatching.

i have seen this before, and i am glad to say that all that were involved survived, although the guy in the ferrari was sueing the organisers after it took officials over 90 seconds  Shocked  to get him out

I have the second part of this film, but it is 16mb and I have run out of space on my website  Huh

However, it basically shows him burning for 90 seconds before being dragged out and then he is seen staggering and falling about the track whilst nobody attends him. Quite terrible really.

Here is a link about the ensuing court case

At least he survived.

I can host it Mr. I!! I'll PM you some ftp details!!

The court case sounds quite bizarre.

"A racing car driver whose career ended with a sickening crash five years ago Wednesday was awarded 90 million yen compensation after the Tokyo District Court ruled race organizers were to blame for his crippling accident."

About £440,000!!

"Tetsuya Ota fell well short of getting the 300 million he had been asking from the five organizers and the marshal of the 1998 race where he suffered severe burns that ruined his driving career, but received the vindication he had been looking for.""Those ordered to pay Ota include Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture, where the horrifying crash occurred, and TV Tokyo, which broadcast the race."

Unless things are different over there, I'm surprised that a volunteer marshall is being sued! That said, I did notice from the video that no-one particularly rushed to either car!!!

"None of the defendants have stated whether they will appeal against the ruling, including TV Tokyo, which spent the entirety of the court battle arguing that it could not be regarded as one of the race organizers."

So a TV company is classed as responsible, as were sponsors, because the pace car went too fast?Huh?

"A pre-race agreement between Ota and the organizers not to pursue legal action in the event of an accident was also dismissed as unacceptable."

We've all said many times that the drivers know the risks involved, and that is why we respect them!!

Hmmh, very worrying, anybody that has paramedic experience must feel sick in the stomach.  Its almost like watching one of those Japenese extreme TV game shows.
