I was thinking of starting a muppet alert thread but...

here's a few

dark blue Mondeo crawls towards me while I wait to turn right, front of  the car totally encased in white (I think they call the stuff snow) as I expect him to pass me so I can make the turn and get out of the way of twenty cars behind me he stops then turns in where I was going. Back of the car is clear of snow, he has all his lights on and is indicating a correct turn.

but none of us could see his lights from the front! His screen had a small area that he could peer out of

I drive into the side road when coming home after this and there in front of me, middle of the road a bloke and woman pulling plastic sledges with a kiddy on each not looking behind them just after the blind corner. She sees me, mutters and steps up onto the pavement at some geezer's drive, he just takes no notice! This road has wheel ruts but no grit. I wait then when he pulls the kid left around a corner, I start to move forward to get in a high enough gear to run up the slope to the top of the road

except for some muppet in a (another dark) blue Astra

Kermit with Miss Piggy and a few other smaller muppets is trying to climb the hill in first with his front wheels spinning and throwing smoke everywhere when he reaches tarmac

So I have to lose my momentum and become a queue

and he just misses a whole line of parked cars as he slips to the low side of the road camber

I love snow driving, it is easy

why cant muppets do it

Anyway now I feel a bit better and bugger it, the snow is thawing. damn

After the horror of waking up to find 10mm of the stuff on monday , yet another heavy fall of up to 4mm in places last night. Poor kids round here must be feeling totally deprived with all the coverage of all the fun down south.

yea my son is pissed off,

up north here - he's been to school everyday.

his cousin in Luton, been off school 3 days this week.

Told him life not fair, get on with it - or words to that effect. Wink

I'm a bit pee'd off how weak snow seems to be these days

used to last ages, snowmen on the lawn for a week or more way back then

But to be fair, this session has lasted longer in t'Migglands than usual, Friday and we still have plenty though it is searching the drains and gutters as we sit yere

But ne'er mind, they tell me I'm having some more over the weekend!

 Cheesy

And I can get in the back garden and find the treasure trove that Rory has left for me to shift. Joys of dogowning...

Bill, you'd enjoy a thread on the other forum I moderate - http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=71872&v=f

We've already been round the "idiots snowballing cars" topic  (now a hidden thread, it got rather repetitive) and there's one running about how badly BMWs appear to be affected. But it's altogether more serious and strait-laced there. Lots of moaning and pedantry, and quite heavy moderating to keep it in order.

My Beemer seems to be ok in the snow, but on the ice it was a nightmare.

This was a surprise as I have not driven a rwd car on snow since my RS2000 in the late 80's and never any type of car with an auto box on the slippy stuff.

Its all gone here in sussex, but it seems to be sleeting now and bit more is snow is forecast tonite.

Hi Redstu,
Metric snow is measured in cm  or metres    Anything less than a cm is refered to as a "dusting" if lying on the ground or flurries if falling through the air. Grin

My drive to work this morning

Hi Nick,
Now those pictures raise the topic of Road Conditions:
Both Examples of Snow Covered.
For some strange reason the next best is Centre Bare which when only the tire tracks are clear is somewhat of a misnomer. (You have tyres we have tires)
Clear ofcourse means the road surface is clear of snow though the banks at the side of the road may be 16 feet high Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
Snow Conditions 101 Here endeth lesson 2
What have you done to piss the snow gods off Grin
