Title: Broken Chariots?
Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on May 20, 2004, 12:07:34 pm
After hearing that the Commer is in many pieces and not yet ready for the trip, I thought it was about time I got the Sud out of the garage and got it MOTd  :o  The local welder will be rubbing hi hands in glee and booking a nice expensive holiday again!!

Anyone else not sure if their ride will be ready?

(p.s. LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!!!! WOOHOOO!!!)

Not sure if I have problems yet. The 120Ah leisure battery seems to last less than two days with light usage. It is a new battery and the fridge relay has just been replaced after that was draining the battery. The Clutch fluid needs changing again and I guess I should bleed the brakes aswell. Other than that I think the Motorhome is ready to go again.

Steve how are all the cobra's??? in particular the overheating one! And Beila's car?

I suppose this is the time to cut down use of my Midget, Lara. She has just passed the MOT with flying colours etc, had new springs and wheel bearings and had a great pre LeMans tune up on the rolling road.  76 mighty BHP at her wheels! Better put her in moffballs for three weeks (Three?Only Three? Yabbadabbadoooo!)

Oh beggar it, can you imagine NOT driving her in the weather we've just been having. S*d it if she breaks I'll go in the SAYAB.... 8) 8) 8) :D

After 9 months of trying to sort the wiring out I finally have a V8 Zodiac that runs and should (subjct to not overheating) be there this year....

The trailer had its final fettling today, new washers and screws.

Wow, if only it was aero-dynamic.

Got on well with the chap at the council  responsible for dumped cars round my way - nearly bagged quite a smart Mini, but the bloody owner moved it  >:(

BUT!!!!  OH HAPPY DAY!!!  In the MOT the Sud only failed on lights and a tyre.  Thats right folks, NO RUST!!!!  :o :o :o

I love the sound of Dellortos in the morning.  ;)

That must be a miracle for an Italian car of that age, do you keep it in an air conditioned bubble and only use it one day a year  ;D

Don't forget to add the Timing Strut for that occasional Hillclimb or Sprint ::)

If there's any metal left to bolt it to  ;)

Still the Alfa's propensity to oxidise and turn back into base metal should do wonders for improving the power/weight ratio.

Alfa Romeo realisation of the importance of recyling cars at the end of their life, 30 years before other manufactures, still comes back to haunt them. ;)

Still miss my 1200 TI Sud, hearing the crackle from the exhaust of DR's Sud last year almost made me start looking for a replacement for my old one. Before you ask, the old one didn't recycle itself, unfortunatly turned into a short wheel base varient after a close encounter with a Capri on the M4 :'(.

Let's see a piccy of the Sud, DR.

Thanks Barry!  Look us up again this year - we will be in MB, but a much reduced group this year, not a problem, leaves more beer for us real men.

Her ye go - not that recent - she needs a t-cut which should happen this weekend

ooohhh Dreamracer what a sexy little number ;)

Lernt to drive in a green 1.3 Sud (4 door) the crackel of the exhust was wounderfull, the fake wood gear knob that whent white over the years and two big dials in fornt of you, but it being typicaly Italian, it hated the cold and damp. We must of been the biggest private buyer of WD-40 in Ipswich.

no wounder I failed my test!

The fish and chip trailer has now got new support legs and the propane has been topped up.  So its Rock (eel) and Roll (and butter).
