The opening of the A28 section between Rouen and Alencon will consign the final bit of N138 to history for most of us who have known and loved it(or otherwise).
To make sure the N138 is not forgotten, I would like to compose an "Ode to the N138". I have written the first verse and I challenge Forum regulars to compose subsequent verses in the same form.
Please post individual 6 line verses and we will judge the best...
Here is my stab at the first verse and chorus,
N138 we think you're great
You take us to the Mulsanne straight
In Commer van or TVR
In Hillman Imp or Jaguar
Locals are bound to be impressed
When we take to the road we all like best
(chorus)

There's nothing about you to hate
To follow you has always been our fate

To reach Tetre Rouge in the rain
That stopped before it became a pain

From 30 to 175 we are thankful N138 for making us alive,
From sleeping off hangovers on a Gace path to falling on Gazole and having a larf!
To waving at our adoring public and avoiding the Gendarme from les Blues republic,
So to end this verse its not to late to say N138 we think youre Great!
