Title: Nurburgring 24 Hours - Fans View
Post by: Dobbo on May 24, 2016, 06:13:53 pm
I'm off to the N24 tomorrow. I have a blog going that I intend to update while I am there to document the event from the fans perspective. Seeing as this fits with the Club Arnage interests, thought I would post here and invite anyone to follow it over the coming weekend.

Hopefully it will make some of you jealous enough to attend next year. Its awesome  ;D

Looking good !

Been a few years since I've been to the Nring 24h.  Still on the verge of driving over last minute Saturday morning.

Seems like you've got everything covered in your planning : pizza at Pinocchio, dinner at Pistenklause ... just missing the Schnitzel at the Motorsport hotel  ;D.
Also the taxi rides : might be easier to get on a shuttle bus ?

Yeah, someone else mentioned the shuttle bus. I didn't know it existed! Are there huge queues like at Le Mans? I'd only want to use it on Friday (presumable quiet then) and Sat morning (maybe starting to get busy).

Is the motorsport hotel in the new complex next to the GP circuit? I don't know if that was even finished the last time I was there in 2009. Is it worth visiting?

Motorsport hotel is in Nürburg itself, almost next to the BMW testcentre and the road to Pistenklause.

If you don't use the shuttle buses during peak moments in the race, you won't have much queues.
I stayed in the An der Nordschleife hotel a few years ago, an did almost everything with the shutlle buses back then (stops across the road). Couldn't be easier, and no problems with parking. Only stops that were really busy during the race were Breidscheid and Brunchenn (and the stop at the GP Strecke the first 2 hours after the start). On Friday and Saturday morning you shouldn't have any problems.

Pinocchio pizzas are brilliant and the beers OMG the size you can get generally a 1ltr is normal. Ill be back straight from Le Mans again :)

Its going to be hard to get around as roads clog up badly - dont forget good walking boots or alot of beer  ;)

Yep, pistenklause is all booked up. There are 7 of us so couldn't risk it.

Thanks for the info about the buses Dottore. This will be spot on for us.

 ;D

We survived the great ice storm. It was incredible.

Will never forget the last 15 minutes of the race.
