Does anyone know if it's possible to get a wireless broadband connection at Le Mans. There must be WiFi at the press centre - but does this extend to other areas of the circuit?

Would it be worth emailing the ACO for an answer?

I set up WiFi at home about six month ago.  I can pick the local hotel's wifi, (but not room service) and its half a mile away.  They password protect it so they can charge £5 an hour.  I don't think mine is powerful enough to reach the hotel, otherwise they'd all log on via me.

Conclusion.  If the ACO have it, they will have a protection system, but drive down the road into the housing estates and stop when you get a signal.

And don't the press have Vodaphone cards, so they can hook up anywhere?

The press centre does have wireless but it is not free to the media and is I'm told pretty pricey.  They have to book it in advance and pay in cash euros.

I think the chance of the ACO doing any for the punters is pretty slim!!

Thanks for your help. I was hoping to take the laptop and use it in the campsite to go online to get live stats and maybe streaming video of the race.

There are ways of using the "rip off priced" wireless hotspots if you have the correct sofware.  :-)

Yeah sorry I know it comes around every year - usually just before the 'Is it possible to tap in to the street lighting grid for power?' thread.

I was just wondering (hoping) the ACO would have realised that the number of journalists at the circuit really warrants a circuit wide WiFi facility - which of course everyone else would benefit from as well.
