nice one PP, another CA type being drawn to the bright lights of wokers.
I think the council should look at twinning this place with Le Mans.

Cheers chaps. I start the Tuesday after Easter so anytime after that will be cool.
Hangover has subsided and I survived my first day of a week doing condition surveys on elderly persons (PC Wink) flats in Aldershot. Yes... all the associated smells were there and the token senior pissartist was on form by the afternoon.

Wokers looks like a nice town, plenty of pubs and grub stops and far less scrotes than I have been used to working in Pompey for the last 18 months!!

Sure I will find them once I start doing my work for the council though Grin

Look forward to a few sherberts and some LM related rubbish talking....

Oh, is there anywhere in the UK twinned with Le Mans??

Bolton in Lancashire is twinned with Le Mans, now how does that work Huh

There used to be a 24 hr race in Bolton too !  Quote from The Citizen:-

"I would be grateful if we could express our appreciation of the efforts of Bolton Round Table in staging the recent 24 hour Le Mans Pedal Car Race held in Moss Bank Park.

This is an event unique to Bolton and has a long and successful history.  The event is a real test of character, endurance and ingenuity and I know everyone who ever gets involved in the event both enjoys and gains a benefit from the experience."

Can we get a CA weight watchers team involved?

Unfortunately on further investigation I see it is running at a circuit called Shennington, near Banbury this year... 28/29 June!

Swearing Jim's firm RHH Franks (FS & Robspot have met him Sad) have built some of the winning pedal cars used in the Ringwood pedal Grand Prix......

Perhaps CA and DFH could enter the Bolton Event....

I am not volunteering to be a driver, that would be best left to someone like Big H (? it was him who cycled to LM?) and others of a more athletic nature. Maybe Brian and Don from The Brethren?

PP, it's too late this year to arrange a team but how about next year.

I presume we have within our membership;

Designers, Engineers  and fabricators. I feel sure that if CA and DfH band together we could field a 3 car team to take on the best. All for charity of course.

On the other hand, MB has a new circuit. We could next year hold it at MB!! Having seen the racing midgets around the green at Expo the last few years. It was especially interesting after 'unknown!! persons spread a bit of oil on the bend!!!!

This idea brings back memories of the old go-kart days with 'Pram wheels, string steering, no brakes etc and many bruises and broken limbs.

IT HAS TO BE DONE.

Cars must have some bodywork resembling LM cars - old or modern.  They should also be assembled 'on site'.

What do you think.

Have I started something here Grin

Down my way there are all the required trades in my local after work... I will get some pics of the Franks cars soon and post em... Jim is a metal bender (panel beater, not Justin Hawkins) by trade and his lot make helicopter stuff... Yorkie owns an engineering firm that spins, cuts, mills, turns and does everything with metal that I dont know about that leaves a component that makes you think... "how the flcuk did you make that from one of those?". Keith is a fine chippy that could make the body buck, Jim could shape it from Ally (free from work) Wink and spray it to a finish better than that of a real LM car.
The last Ringwood one they built had loads of Titanium bits, all formed from waste jobs..or thats what they told the boss (Jims dad).

Can be arranged if there is enough support... best check out the MB track in june.

And NO mystery oil appearing on any corners... we dont want Don or Brian having a nasty "off" into someones TVR. I know who would come off better Grin

You beat me to it... Was just going to say the same thing.
Best we wait until we have seen the facilities available on MB and then see what the interest is like.

Would be fun if all the CA groups had a car out... just wondering what The Zarse boys would enter. (Perhaps I should re phrase that Wink)

We don't have to stick to one pub. It's so easy to get about in Wokingham

 http://homepage.ntlworld.com/babs.pete.evans/Wokingham_Pub_Map_-_Sep_07.pdf

Ok, should we change pubs? Possible options:
The Plough - The usual haunt, plenty of room, food if needed
The Three Frogs - recently refurbed, bit nearer town, food available
The Ship - Nearer town, bit small
All the rest in Wokingham may be a bit small or a very young crowd! Maybe Two Poplars??

Is the Two Pops still full of football hooligans?  More importantly...does it still have that pole in the middle of the room?

i haven't been to the 2 pops for years and it was awful then, driving past it does look a bit 'sky sports' for my liking.

Looks like the plough will win out, fine by me as its just up the road and easy for peeps to get to and they know where it is etc etc

Although the frogs has been refurbed i hear it is still not all that.

And as mentioned elsewhere, the plough is probably the best size wise to get all in if there are a good number of people.

I'm just worried Smokie might find it a bit too far away.....
