There is a likelihood that the MSA would prepare a manifesto for presentation to government seeking authority for the use of what the MSA is referring to as Temporary Suspension Orders, enabling public roads to be closed by local authorities and suspension of the Road Traffic Act during closure, so that Rallies or Hilllcimbs may be held. Before, this has required an Act of Parliament for each.

What we are now seeking would place mainland UK on a level footing with the Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Ireland (both north & south) and Continental Europe, where that authority is already in place.

That manifesto is now to be found at www.msauk.org/manifesto however more importantly the MSA has prepared a petition which requires as many participants in UK motorsport (in whatever capacity) to sign please do so this is vital this can be found at www.petition.co.uk/msa

Go on, sign the petition and we could have Les Vingt Quatre Heures du Chipping Sodbury.

Thanks to the ASWMC for the info

Done

We're fortunate on the Continent to have many rallies/hillclimbs as a result of this: GB should too.

We have them over here 4-5 times a year as does Jersey. We are part of the national hillclimb circuit.

No, long gone. The closure lasted 4 yrs from 1986, and I marshaled at one when the races included F3000, BTCC and TVR. Maybe more if I could remember, but I do recall that the racing was awesome and we were protected by 3layers of armco and a huge tree. We needed the tree as they touched the armco every time they came passed us and my sock got burnt by the flames out of a TVR. It was either loose the safety of the tree and move away from the exhaust beltch on gear changes or stay put and risk a bit of flame !! The answer was to tuck my socks into the probans !!

aston clinton hillclimb was run a couple of years ago i think where mr martin made his reputation.its now the road leading to a playground and picnic area.near aylesbury and wendover.it should be listed like places like brooklands and shelsey walsh.
