hi guys, finally got confirmation of our campsite and theyve stuck us in BEAUSEJOUR. We wanted Camping Houx!

Anyone familiar with this site? We have a large motorhome that we are taking this year and just wondering if this site accomodates them ok...

cheers.

Sure, we were there last year. If you are to get there early and there's space, park up against the trees on the left hand side to have a lie-in in the mornings. Get your own food as local (fish&)chips are horrible and mega-expensive. As far as I understood BSJ has the best toilet/shower facilities in the whole of camping at LeMans, no electric hook-up though.
Bring your push bikes!! Porsche curve is at least a ten minute walk, and the pit lane is a fair 30 minute walk.

For the rest it's a clean, widely spread campingsite. Great atmosphere (like all the other campings), all nationalities represented there. Should be reasonably quiet as we've got MB-tickets this year.

Great thanks. Sounds like it could be a good result after all, was abit concerned about its location etc, but i think my petrol scooters going to come in handy!

As far as a electrical hook-up is concerned im sure we will be able to get by with the reserve batteries and giving them a top every so often. (has anyone used generators before for power? are they adequate, reliable economical etc?) We are arriving on Wednesday prior so we want to be comfortable for the stay!

Does anyone also have a map pin-pointing where BEAUSEJOUR is exactly? Cheers.Ben.

As for power supply, it's probably best to get one of those cheap generators, you can pick one up for about 65 quid nowardays. Especially as you want to arrive on Wednesday, that's too many days to live on a car battery.

Here's a map>> BSJ is at the bottom. As you can see your scooters are definitely handy!

We were there last year too, good clean (for Le Mans apparently) site,  toilets were, as Paddy_NL says, clean and tidy at all times, we had a great time down there, helped by the peeps we met  Wink  quite a few as we were very close to the 2nd toilet/wash unit.
Down side is the distance to anywhere, get some walking shoes and a shoulder cool bag [take your beer with you then] you'll regret it if you don't  Wink
What sort of size battery you using for liesure? We found that a small solar panel kept ours well charged, that was a 75 Ah battery  Wink
Check out on the general forum, there's a map on there under useful info, or something like that  Wink

We were on the right-hand side of BSJ, as you can see there's plenty of space.
Here are those trees I was referring to>>

And Beausejour goes on, and on, and there doesn't seem to be an end to the site Smiley

smuudge, its a good site its just a long walk to the village thats all.

Going to miss the Drinking for Holland lot, had a particualy wierd conversation with two of them on a small (ish) mound of earth on the inside of the Porshe Curves about Henicken beer not being brewed in the UK anymore. Well at least I think that was the gist of it.

Bobblehat Racing will be there from Wednesday, come for a beer.

Team Cannonball are also gonna sample Beausjour for the first time. It may be a bit further away but Le Mans is always what you and the folks you go with make it.

3 words...

Mountain Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Mountain Bikes

OK, so it's 6... but the point is, we take one each (5 of us) and we're in Houx Annexe. They are an absolute must if you're in Beausejour, and even though we're much closer to the action in HA, we wouldn't be without them. Excellent for a trip into Le Mans on Friday afternoon to catch the drivers parade.

If, of course, you are anable to take them with you, I'm sure the likes of Gilles will be able to direct you to a local cylce hire establishment?

No it's a post-war Peugeot van, probably a J7 form the early 70's

Correct Gilles, it's either a J7 or a J9, as you say, early 70's vintage. I prefer the old J4A myself. You're getting good at this old van lark!
