407  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: I am sorry Aston Martin but on: April 25, 2011, 04:12:09 am
They had an interview with darren turner who said it handled well but couldn't out accelerate a gt car.
Sadly it ain't pretty and the engine ain't good enough.
For what its worth yes I would have bet against the Peugeot last year. Audi will always be there at the end.

I'm hopin' Audi puts it to the puggers but do you mean "Audi will always be there at the end" like at Sebring, 5 laps down???  Huh
Endurance racing has it's twists and turns as always... Wink

Okay. You're special.  Evil laugh
411  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: AUDI R18 at Sebring on: February 08, 2011, 12:16:19 am
I'm no aero engineer but methinks fins for straight line stability have disappeared as aerodynamics have come a long way since the '50s (over, under and behind the cars). Granted, that's only 60 years (more than half the lifespan of the racing automobile) but... Wink Evil Grin
412  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: AUDI R18 at Sebring on: February 03, 2011, 11:13:08 am
Looking at a back end view, the fin is very thin over the whole cross-section,..............Pretty much a win all round at the expense of looking a bit sh*t, but the effect will be worth it to give more choices and control over set up.

And it's not new - think Jaguar D-Type - they put the fin there for the same reason  Grin.

MG Mark
Nice dissertation but you don't think that it's being mandated has anything to do with it's existence???  Huh
(Hint: It does, to keep the cars from getting airborne whilst going sideways at high speed) Wink Smiley
413  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: AUDI R18 at Sebring on: February 03, 2011, 11:03:27 am
Audi R18 testing at Sebring this looks a lot lower to ground than the r15plus, plus i wonder how quick this will be in the future especially.

I don't think the ride height minimum has changed for this year but haven't checked.
From the ALMS boards "R18 fast lap was around 1:44. most laps were in between that and 1:48"

"I think it's getting close to the time for a revolution.

It's getting to the point where I wonder how long it will be before they ban sites like CA because non-PC statements are made from time to time"

Your side of the pond, too, ehhhh???
420  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: OK, who's left then? on: June 12, 2009, 06:02:59 am
Here too. SPEED while it's on; T&S throughout as well as RLM. I've been enjoying RLM for years....don't even need the video as my minds eye sees it all with their excellent coverage. I'm 120 miles south of Sebring and have always planned to get over there and now I'm afraid this is the year (if the only one) I should've made it.  Cry
Anyway to get a passport and over there tomorrow (friday) Huh?

Wishful thinkin' as this may be a classic. Woulda liked to have beem over in '69 but was too young (14-15). Gonna enjoy the hell out of every minute (got Monday off to recuperate) all the same as I've been around raciing since early 60's so I virtualy "feel" it and "see" it "live" from here. Enjoy everybody as I know you shall.  Smiley
Just don't let the deflating balloon ("Damn it's really over...now what?) get you down after the fact.  Huh
It does me every 24. So much anticipation and adrenalin during the leadup and race and then poof....it's over.  Sad

Ah well, then there's always next year.  angel
