2221  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:Carrefour research needed! (Non Le Mans!!) on: July 16, 2003, 12:46:45 pm
I'm most likely going to be passing though Le Mans at the weekend.
I'll check it out for you assuming that it's not Sunday when I'm in that area.
2222  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:full member status on: July 16, 2003, 12:34:50 pm
I deleted one of myown posts and my posts count dropped by one.
So I think that if the moderator deletes then the count should also drop in that case too.

I'm tempted to see how quickly I can go from newbie to senior member.

2223  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:CA Web site problems. on: July 14, 2003, 06:41:59 pm
Dreamracer,  I know MSIE is he most prolific browser.  But as I say
I normal use a Linux system and so MSIE is not an option.  I have good reasons to use Linux but that discussion is outside the scope of this forum.

Thats why I asked If I find out why it fails in Netscape could the fix be incorporated.

The downside if it not working in Netscrape and other None MSIE browsers is that menu bar dos not show up,  so I had no idea that any of that stuff was there I only discovered it coz I happened to be using my GFs system one day.

ChrisConsidine,  That would be good.
2224  Club Arnage / General Discussion / CA Web site problems. on: July 11, 2003, 10:10:41 pm
I have a gripe about the web site.  It only works with MSIE as far as I can tell.  Well its the menu bar that doesn't work in netscape and other brosers.  If I sort out what is wrong with the front page will you make the changes required Dave?

It's a reall pain for me, it mean, I have to use my GFs computer to read the forum.   My own system runs Linux and so MSIE is not an
option for me.

Regards,
Tom.

I think the trick is that everyone should boycott the commercal operators.  They buy up vast quantities of tickets and create an artificial shortage.   Whilst I tend to go to Le Mans on my own and thus only need one camping ticket it's a bit easier.

I first went in 1980 missed out in 81 and have been every year since.  Only once did I fail to get an ACO camping site.  That was 2000.  Even then I found  a private campsite in a Motor Cycle Club behind the Tehno Park.  This year  I still managed to get extra campsite tickets for some friends that  were going to arrive later in the week.  So I my advice is take the  chance.  Or I think CA may be bying up some tickets next year.

Pesonaly I'd never pay more than Face Value for any Le Mans ticket.

Of course if your a large group then being sure that you get the number of campsite places you need can be tricky.  But one or two cars should not be a problem.
2226  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:More Fun Stuff on: July 07, 2003, 05:53:24 pm
Just found a new google page.
Go to http://www.google.com/
enter "French military Victories"
Then click "I'm feeling Lucky"
Again you have to read the page.  :-)

Great stuff may be we should have a 'Humour' section.

2228  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Lighting BBQs in under 5 seconds (Link now working) on: July 04, 2003, 11:18:15 am
Since the Angle Grinder Man and Dr Cliff pages gave some amusement I thought you would all like to see the George Goble method of Lighting
a BBQ.  May be one of the more enterprizing CA members can source some LOX for next years event.  Unfortunately the original GHG home page has gone but you can still veiw most of it on the arhive.org site
http://web.archive.org/web/20021003203611/ghg.ecn.purdue.edu/~ghg/

The page does contain a warning "Don't try this at Home."  So I guess
it depends on wethr you consider Le Mans to be home. :-)

I found that http://www.cardhouse.com/drcliff/garage/tech/techsupport.htm
It only has a tenuous link to cars but none the less very funny.
2230  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:campsites??? on: July 02, 2003, 07:36:52 pm
Probably the same guys that nicked the Showers from Beausejour.
I know it's difficult to carter for so many people. But it's not like they
don't know we'll be there.   So why not just order two or three times the number of WC/shower units and so on?
2231  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:campsites??? on: July 02, 2003, 04:53:12 pm
Yes,  Houx is marked out spaces.  At the end of each line of spaces is
a Water and power supply so you don't need to take a Gennie just lots of cable.  The Shower block is execlent but undersized for the number of people on the site and yes there is a bar in there.  None the the less it's
still a fair wark to the Tribunes and not a patch on the old Tribunes
Campsite where the fair ground has now been moved to.  The space is adequate for a Car and Four man Frame tent and there is still room for a BBQ ect.  In fact I think you'll find that all of the sites have a limit on the
amount of space you are allowed.  On Beausejour this year there was a guy showing us where we could pitch and but with the Language problems we were more or less left to sort it out for ourselves.  But he did make it plain that we should only use a 16m x 18m area for the three tickets we had.  :-)  With the 'numbered' plots in Houx it's more difficult to be flexible with your positioning.
2232  Club Arnage / Just To Say Hi / Re:hi new site looks good on: June 19, 2003, 02:58:39 pm
I was in Tribunes in 85.  IMHO Tribunes was the best site ever.  Right next to the Village and Dunlop Bridge.  It was a bit of a pain to get in and out at times but it's central location made up for that.
2233  Club Arnage / Just To Say Hi / Just doing what I'm told. :-) on: June 19, 2003, 01:14:08 pm
Well It said New members please Sign in.  So here I am.
I've only been making the anual trip to Le Sarthe since 1980.  I don't remember now how many times I got soaked that year but it only made me more detirmined to go back.  It's sad that things have changed so much.  No more standing in the doorway of the Cafe on the Mulsanne Straight.  Chicanes along The Striaght.  The changes at Arnage-Indinapolis mean you don't get quite such a good View.  Though I do
like the new part after the Dunlop Bridge.

Also like the New Look Site.  :-)   But it doesn't work with Nutscape.
