Anyone got any ideas? Looks like I've missed the cheap ferry deals this year. I've worked out that it'll be £142 each to get the ferry from Portsmouth to Le Harve and then petrol on top. I'm considering flying to Paris and then getting the train to Le Mans. Flight is about £120 and then I'm not sure about the train fare as SNCF (la gare) only show fares 90 days in advance...
I'm just wondering if anyone has done the fly - train thing before? Any ideas/advice/recommendations appreciated. Vx

Definitely of interest... There are a few things I need to sort out before confirming yay or nay though so I'll have to come back to you. The major problem for me will be time off work... When will the bus be heading back to Holland/when do you think we could get home? Certainly something to think about

Jenson just has to hope that McLaren are more competetive in 2010 and that Hamilton isn't classed as #1 because of all his years served at the team... I have to be honest and say I don't know if he will be able to match Hamilton, much as I like and respect him as a driver.

I don't know a lot about Whittlebury I'm afraid... The White Horse in Silverstone Village is not too bad. Although it's a good 20-30 minute walk from the main gate at Silverstone. I'm not sure how long it would take from the Whittlebury Hall campsite, but I'd say a good 20 mins on top of that. Did you walk from Whittlebury last time?
I stayed at the Saracens Head years ago and it was always clean with good food/beer. I hope it's the same now. It's definitely not a walk away from Silverstone/Whittlebury though.
A word of warning as well... Any taxis called out to Silverstone village or nearby hotels usually charge double fare/call out from Towcester. Stu and I were due to stay at the Premier Inn, next to the Green Man Inn on the A43 but the taxis were charging over £20. That hotel is just a couple of miles to the circuit, but a walk along a dual carriageway. We found a B&B in the village and walked in.

I bought one of these showers a couple of years ago and it worked really well. I ended up using it to empty out a rather large paddling pool with it in the end (before water but pumps became available) and it broke after several hours... The amazon one is fairly expensive, but if the price comes down I'd be tempted to get one again with the solar shower to warm the water, as the showers this year were almost unbareable...

I wont be there next year, not sure about the other Melans. We shall see. I have a lot of home improvements to spend money on over the next 6-12 months extending Maison Melans... It's only the fact that our US trip in September is working out at less than a trip to Spain that we're venturing to the US at all... One day we'll make Sebring! Stuart really wants to go as well.
