Hijack !
My brother who is largley responsible for me falling in with sportscar racing twenty some odd years ago.Recently pulled a Dec.1981 Road & Track. It has an article written by the late Bob Akin of whom he worked for in the mis 80's.
Very cool article.Leading up to 81 24hrs. Thier 935 had stalled on track at a race Nurburgring,The marshals chose not to remove car from the track. It was hit from behind by the 908 driven by Herbert Muller, killing Muller and destroying thier car. This article was of course written after the 24hrs,so he obviously had time to reflect on alot of things.

"Tragedy is the part of racing that we do not think about, yet when there is a fatality we are reminded that this really is not a game we are playing but a serious, threatening sport that can extract the ultimate price while it lures us with its promise of glory."
The Late Bob Akin
