Go to www.moneysavingexpert.com which fully explains the best and worst ways to change money.  Best is plastic but the right plastic with no loading e.g. Nationwide, beware of hidden charges with others.  Best banks are Post Office or Marks and Spencers.

for the amount you are spending you will get a good rate from the Holes in the walls other there. Approx £1.50 per transaction. unless you are in millionaires row......... lend us your lambo!
just get a ton to start off the pilgrimage from the post office, best high street rate.

hope this helps.

How about a minor competition to see who can get the best cash rate ?

Watch the markets and make your move!

Well In Dublin last weekend I had to get some Euros so went to the first hole in the wall  I could find.
Took out €150 just checked and I got 1.427076396 which is not quite as good.  So it cost me 22p more than shaunv156.

IMO it's not worth bothering.  Ok on the amount shaunv156 changed it's a quid but still not worth worrying about.

It's a bit excessive for a couple of days a year but if you go abroad a lot, open a Nationwide B Soc account.  Putting you Nwide card in a hole in the wall gets you BANK rate (sic) and no fee.  Best I've ever found.
