98 was my first visit to the race and I must admit when seeing the blowout on the screen at the time I was really dissapointed for Toyota as in my opinion it was one of the best looking cars in its timeand they deserved to win,on the other hand the 911gt1 win re-launched Alan McNish's career.

It would have been even better if Brundle had been in the lead tho!!!!

For my buck, the GT-One is still one of the best-looking cars ever.

the Porsche 911 GT1 (98?)

It sure was 98 Bradders. McNish's first win. I believe that the car is in the museum at LM. I loved the GT 90's, So much better looking than most of the soulless LMP1 cars that came later.

It was in 2008.

Le Mans - the how you get there is not quite as important as being there.

There were strong whisperings around a year ago that the old GT-One had spent 3 days hammering around Suzuka with a very different sounding engine note and a few dozen factory engineers pouring over it every time it stopped. The official line was that they were getting it ready for FOS- but for 3 days??
Read into that what you will, but I think a return is on the cards and that car was being used as a mule.
