Planning to be there, probably camping at Litchlake on the Friday night and Saturday night.

MG Mark

Litchlake it is then. See you there Saturday evening.

Steve

Unfortunately, now unable to attend - sadly, the missus's dad died earlier this week, so (understandably) time being taken up elsewhere.  Have a good weekend all that are going,

Thanks chaps - unexpected but not entirely surprising is how I would best put it.  Ron had a good innings at 82, and was still independent at home (just) with all faculties and functions intact; in typical fashion, he would not have wished to be a "burden".

He served in the Fleet Air Arm as an Airframe and Engine Mechanic during the War and afterwards, with 804 Sqn on Seafires embarked on HMS Theseus.  After that he joined the Royal Artillery for a few years before working as an electrical engineeer, but always took great and particular pride in his service with the RN, and was active with various ex-Service associations.

Last year he became the president of his local British Legion branch - it was a pleasure last year to be in uniform standing next to him on the dais as he took the salute from those marching past on Remembrance Day.  A fine and good gentleman to raise a glass to.

Hope silverstone was good!!!

He sounds like a good bloke Mark, it's good that he had that final salute too. God bless.

Gary and I did miss you today (aye, and the boy "who knows about those things ye ken") We will see you soon anyway and maybe raise a glass together to Ron.

Just back home after an awesome day's racing and mooching around the paddock with my camera (all going on Flickr soon). Highlight for me (and the main reason I went) were the thundering Lola T70s. Awesome machines! The paddock had a bewildering array of just about everything you could ever want to see, all given full death by the drivers. Great weekend.

Sorry, no action shots, I need more practice and a longer thing sticking out of the front of the camera!

Stunning pics Steve, I just love those T70 shots. The cars look just as good asthey did the first time in the '70s.
Note... need to put date in diary for next year, Cheers

Good stuff Steve, only criticism is I would have liked to have tied up an engine shot with a body shot. We are not alll whizzers when it comes to ID, and yes I know some do know it, even in the dark (as Dr S would prove)

Are these taken using a general access ticket?

Must put this on my list I think, thanks for sharing.

Got to admit Gordon that the T70's might just be pushing the 917 hard in my list of fave sports racers of all time. The noise is fearsome!

Yes, the General Admission ticket got me everywhere. Great access to the cars, drivers, paddock and pit lane although remember to take advantage of the internet pre-booking offer of £35 for the Sunday. I left it too late and had to pay £50 on the gate which is a bit pricey. Brilliant day nevertheless.
