Title: Isle of Man TT
Post by: nopanic - neil on May 19, 2010, 08:05:09 pm
Something I allways want to see, Isle of Man TT. But normally to expensive.

Another way and hopefully cheaper way of getting there, may not be perfect but......

Problem with the TT, is that it's the week before LM.
Serious brownie points would be needed to do both.

Went on holiday to Douglas, in 1971, not knowing it was TT week, what a buzz stood on Bray hill watching Giacomo Agostini, flying past on his MV Agusta, think his average speed was 100 mph + for the race and it was raining cats and dogs at that.
I was totally hooked and spent most of our holiday watching the races, did not go down very well with the rest of the family.

Milky Quayle. Our paths have crossed once or twice in the past.

He was patched up pretty well.

Absolutely. Few years ago planned to go with Beerman, untill calculation turned out to be 1,400€ a piece for a week Isle of Man traveling from Holland, and that was with only £25 pocket money a day :-X

I am giving very serious consideration to going next year, even if it means missing LM or at least cutting it back to a weekend jolly  :o

The TT is back on form from what I hear, looks great on the TV and I have always promised myself a trip.

Andy - Fancy making a two weeker out of it?  My place to IOM, IOM to my place for a night, leave for LM on Tuesday?

Would hope to be back biking by then......

I've a mate who's just gone on his Super Balckbird all the way from Luxembourg to IOM over the weekend.  He's there for the week.

Races this week are today, Wed & Fri.

Ferry from Liverpool's stupidly expensive - was £200 return for 1 bike!

If you want to go next year, you'd better start booking your ferry now. Steam Ferries (or whatever they're called) sell out fast :-\

Paddy, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company are a legend.  They were very poor years ago, so made the ferries out of old cornflake packets

Still sends shakes down my spine, the midnight Manx Maid, back to Liverpool, in a force 8 gale. :'(

I am flying there for the racing on Wednesday as part of a corporate do from Guernsey and Jersey. I have got a photographers pass.

Looking forward to it but supposed to be raining so no racing, plan B is rental of a couple of coaches and tour the circuit with the clients and commentary from some of our sponsored riders, nice idea I think.
