I'll be there
32  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Places to Visit On The Way To Spa from Rotterdam - November on: August 22, 2019, 03:17:17 pm
Antwerp in Belgium, or Maastricht in Holland.
Antwerp is less than 1,5h away from Rotterdam and 1,5h from Spa.

33  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Silverstone WEC 2019, who, when, where? on: August 22, 2019, 03:09:02 pm
Thursday to Sunday, staying in B&B about 15' from the track.

I'll be there.
Already started planning as my schedule will likely be Amelia Concours > Indycar > Sebring.  Looks like a 20 day trip this time since I don't really want to miss the 25th Amelia.

Will make a write up about RV's, FoF etc ... after Le Mans.  Or if you're at LM, always happy to meet up somewhere during raceweek.
35  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Who, Where, What When etc 2019 on: May 14, 2019, 11:01:14 pm
Testweekend: Friday to Sunday
Race week: from Sunday Scrutineering to Monday after the race.

Staying in the "CA mansion" we've been using for several years now, about 20' from the track.
We should have some beds left during raceweek, so if anyone's interested, feel free to contact me !

Really???

Rain, snow, hail, sun, clouds ...
On of the most insane 6 hours I've ever spent at a racetrack (but I loved it  Grin)

Will Bykolles make it?

If they find an engine ... (and don't catch fire on the way to LM)

If they have issues at Silverstone due to a "bumpy" resurface of the track, what's it going to be like at Sebring ?
That's just one big bump after another.
40  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: WEC Anyone? on: July 31, 2018, 10:28:54 pm

This is what the FIA mail said this afternoon:

Quote
A summary of the ongoing discussions regarding the 2020 Technical Regulations for the highest category of FIA WEC was presented as follows:

-        Targeted budget of one quarter of current LMP1 budgets.

-        Freedom of design for brands based on a ‘Hypercar’ concept.

A plan to encourage the participation of female drivers in the FIA World Endurance Championship was approved.

Details on both points above will be presented during the week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

A proposal to modify the length of the Sebring competition from 1500 miles to 1000 miles with effect from the 2019 competition was approved.

I absolutely dislike the idea of some kind of hypercar class to replace LMP1.  Le Mans is about prototype racing, take those away and the magic will be gone !
Also: what's going to happen with the privateer LMP1 teams ? Have them invest a lot money in a new car that's only able to race for 2 seasons ?  Or will they be able to continue to race and develop their cars (thinking especially about SMP, they've been f*cked once in LMP2).  The only thing that might work is some kind of DPi like prototypes, in which case the current privateers might be able to work with

I'm scared for the press conference next week, the ACO messed it all up last year and something tells me they will do the same this year.

Press members moaning like hell because they have had pit lane rights withdrawn. Rumours abound that it is because several hundred have been allocated to Alonso's mates.

I won't go into detail but the way the ACO is managing the press credentials this year is nothing but a (very) bad joke.
