Title: 2007 tickets confirmed and now arrived
Post by: Nordic on November 21, 2006, 05:53:51 pm
Having opted out of the ACO lottery for camping tickets some time ago, I just thought I would share with you the fact that I have now had my allocation confirmed from a rather expensive but hopefully trustworthy sorce. :D

Just waiting to see what Grandstand tickets we are allocated from the ACO now. :-\

I thought those nice people at the ACO had posted the 'letters of disappointment' early when I read the thread title!

First couple of weeks in December, isn't it?

My 2006 letter (sorry, '05) was dated 21st December, if that helps.

Crikey! Good work that man! That reminds me I'd better get on to the ACO and get a ticket reservation in for 3 x MB and 2 x La gache grandstand seats.

Having sent my fax in March, I'd be bitterly disapointed if we'd be re-allocated to Beauséjour or Camping Bleu :-\

Booked mine in March but still unsure whether I am going or not, as I mentioned on another topic Condor are being complete shxts and not running from Guernsey until 16.30  Bastxxrds, they screwed Emeraude who were a French company and doing a great service.

This, mind you, is not the reason why I might not go however, I just want a bit more variety... I am sure a lot of you can understand that.

Well I'm delighted to say that I had an email this morning at 08.25. It was from the wonderful Caroline in the ACO booking office saying my MB allocation is obviously secure and I'll be receiving the confirmation and invoice in the post in a couple of weeks time. I like to think that Caroline and I have a kind of James Bond/Miss Moneypenny type relationship.

Title: Re: 2007 tickets confirmed

But does she bear as much resemblance to Miss Moneypenny as you do to James Bond?
 ;)

Post by: Andy Zarse on November 22, 2006, 11:21:00 am
I'm very similar to Sean obviously, except for my hair. You do realise of course that Connery was a rug wearer in the later Bond films and that I would never stoop so low. As far Caroline is concerned, i think she looks more like the stunningly beautiful French actress Isabel Adjani.

Yeah, never did get the rug thing myself, Andy.  What is that?

No wonder you like phoning her up, though.  Especially when she tells you just what you want to hear. ;D

UPS have emailed to say a letter is on its way from Le mans!

So either the ACO have started to dispach tickets, or I have made the mother and father of cock ups, and ordered grandstand tickets for the Moto GP or bike 24hr instead of the car race tickets.

Fingers crossed.

I think you'll be ok.
The ACO website says tickets will be despatched from April 2007, providing they have been paid for.

I hear the bike race is quite nice although the campsites are a little rougher than the car 24.... ;)

I am pleased to say that the ACO have come up trumps and and I am now clutching 6 Grandstand tickets!

Not only that, but I have also been upgraded to my first choice stand.

Tickets have arrived before the begining of April. The design of the camping tickets has changed

Title: Re: 2007 tickets confirmed

Tickets arrived today courtesy of UPS.

I thought at first that they had not included the camping tickets - what I thought was an information brochure turned out to be the new-style tickets.  Gone are the days of spending hours trying to get the sticky bit off the windscreen - you've now got a tear-out 'hook' to hang it on the interior mirror.

Just trying to remember now who I sold them to!!

Presumably now we'll be able to change cars - useful for us - or do you have to fill in reg' numbers etc.
I'll check back to my survey and see if they are arriving in any sort of order!

No 'boxes' or instructions to enter anything.

The only instructions are to tear out the hook bit and place it on the interior mirror - assuming that's what 'retroviseur' is!!

Oi Del - how come you've got tickets already?  You were one of the tail end Charlies after they lost your original application weren't you?

Is this bleeding alphabetical order so I wait to the end?

(I've got a little note of who I've bought from and sold too.....if only I could find it  ;D)

Title: Re: 2007 tickets confirmed

It's certainly not in the same (pretty logical) order of the confirmations.  Is it in grandstand/campsite order or something?  It's certainly not about nearest first.... ;)

Maybe they're sending the tickets out in reverse order   :D :D

Or maybe alphabetially (I'm an 'A')

Who cares - I've got mine

These tickets are for Bleu and Leonard, so no clues there.

Alpahbetical doesn't work either as I think Nordic's an "L"? Don't know about BG.  Probably just dipping randomly into a box!

It just occured to me that my "How to get tickets" piece for the guide will need a bit of adjustment in view of the new-style camping/parking tickets.  Can anybody who has got this year's scan them and send them to Werner so it can be up-dated?

I guess they are just coming out in a random order.

BG is a "D". One question about the new camp tickets is "how do you attach them to a motobike"? Monsieur le controller used to insist that we attached the old ones to the screen.

I am a "C" and ordered by fax in ....umm.... August I think - for those studying the shipping patterns.

(P.S.  Does anyone else's messages keep changing the order that they appear? - mine keep going back to front even tho I keep changing it back again on the profile)

I was wondering that. I thought perhaps as it has 'Welcome' on it that it may be a supplement for the welcome centre situated at the back of the village. Mind you, as it is clearly and artists impression maybe it won't be there anyway....

Got my tickets for Bleu Nord - Zone G, wherever that is - with the note about Houx Annexe being fully booked, despite placing my order before last year's race.

Could be worse - a mate has just paid over £100 for a Bleu Nord ticket on ebay... a Houx Annexe ticket would have been double that. Someone is making a killing.

Have we all stopped getting excited about getting tickets or have they stopped issuing them?

Still nothing for me.... ???

Have you had a look round the back of the house?  You know how your postie likes to play hide n seek with you!!  ;D

Still waiting here also.
With all the tickets I've paid for, maybe they're arranging a special armoured vehicle convoy  ::)

Let's hope so, either that or we are all being upgraded to a very special VIP enclosure in the paddock.

Is this Gospel then, the alphabetty bit?
I've always been a bit sceptical, and decided it was just us brits striving to attach some logic to the workings of the ACO. It would be interesting to see the initial of everyones surname, and the date their tickets arrived. I'm an S and I haven't got mine yet, mind you neither have I seen my father for ages, and I was just chatting to Xavier Xerxes the other day when.....
High on a hill stands a lonely goat!!!!!...- I just can't get it out of my  head now, I'm going to have to break out the crinolene.

As it is all on computer(s) these days, it has to be in some kind of order, date/time or alphanumerically on something.  Trouble is, what??

I'm an 'A' and was one of the first to get my tickets.  If I was Mr Brown, I would be hovering very close to the panic button at this time, or at least reaching for the dog & bone to call those very helpfull people at the ACO.

What you must realize Del is that Mr Brown is an HAer and as such is not prone to panicking. As I have stated many times, the inhabitants of that wonderful piece of real estate are a more serine group of campers and believe that a ticket to the promised land is well worth the wait. While all around us are losing their heads we sit calmly by, pour another drink and wait.

Thanks Bob.

I have now entered a state of yogic calm and serenity.

In past years my tickets generally haven't turned up in April anyway.  Then, sometime in May, a knock at the door and UPS wants my autograph.

As you will notice, the hanging from the rear view mirror version is of little use to me. I need the "impossible to unstick from windscreen" version of previous years. It's bad enough trying to get the Speedferries hanging ticket to stay on.

I hope you dont think you can get away with parking like that on OUR red routes tomorrow mate!

 ;D

I reccomend the sellotape option, in your case with the five year lifetime guarantee.

Superglued in place.

I sorta think all we open cars users will need to do summat secure with our passes...

Title: Re: 2007 tickets confirmed and now arrived
Post by: garyfrogeye on April 28, 2007, 09:31:10 am
It'll be double sided tape, glued and bonded to the windscreen with a couple of rivets to hold the quarter inch steel plate welded to the frame and the electrified dog patrolled 10 foot high fence with the shark infested ditch around it (assuming the French let us use water this year).
You will also notice if you look through the windscreen how the red route conveniently stops, as I had a nice little red box to park in.
It allowed me to park safely after hours and Sundays. But it didn't stop me getting a ticket one Bank holiday Monday!

Had a not-very-encouraging call with the ACO yesterday where she said they will be posted soon. On pressing her, she checked and said I hadn't paid for postage. I pointed out confirmation snail mails had been sent to me conforming change of my original arrangements (which I thought at the time might be risky). She rather off-handedly then said OK they will be sent out sometime, but I wasn't convinced...

So I'm now looking at binning a £90 flight for the Mrs to go to Aberdeen that weekend in favour of popping down for test w/e to ensure I get them... will cost a few brownie points though...

Sweet Jesus!
That lovely man from UPS has just dropped off our tickets, and what a bundle they are!!
I do have rather a lot of Zone D Maison Blanche ones though, when Zone B has been our home for more years than Ronnie Corbett has inches, and that's where we'll be heading, so let's hope they don't enforce it, or there'll be hell to pay, or at least bribes.
Mind you, I've seen no official literature anywhere telling us where these zones are, so how the hell are we meant to know? - if they put posts and signs up I can't see them lasting long.
Also, D's further to cycle...

Well I had just put the finishing touches to persuading the wife that she didn't really want to visit Aberdeen on test weekend after all (costing one airline ticket), and booking Speedferries (costing a return ticket) just to ensure that my tickets were on time and surprise surpise - they have turned up in the post... UPS man apparently wanted a signtaure but lucky timing meant my daughter was there to do the deed.

So I have either a useless flight to Aberdeen (use it or lose it, but can be altered for £30 I think) or a useless ferry ticket.

I expect I will go to Test, as I've already been through the grief barrier about cancelling her little holiday...

You could 'bank' the Speedferry ticket.  I will use the 'banked' ticket from when we got bounced off SF last year on my outbound trip this year.

Good news about your tickets though - I was sweating with you.  If you can get mine in the post, I would be grateful as I have to forward them to others in my group.

Cheers

Del

It was already a 25/12 ticket, I guess I can return it to that status (but I'd sooner go to Test).

Will deal with tickets over the w/e, exepcting to get them in the Royal Mail Special Delivery on Mon. Del - just to be safe, PM me your address again just in case I've lost it on my home PC (I lost my entire Inbox 2 weekends ego...)

Steve B I've got the tickets now thanks.  All I need now are the ones from the ACO.  They weren't kidding when they said the French ones would be done last...

And there I was, catching up with CA, and my nice neighbour appeared brandishing a UPS envelope.  Whoopee, all ready and just two weeks to go! :) :) :)

Finally all tickets that are due to land on my doorstep have done so.  They have also been sent on to those that are due tickets from me.

The only one I'm really short of is an MB Zone 'A' from Stu but he won't get that till he arrives in Le Sarthe.    So can you guys that are there Monday make sure he doesn't leave town before I get there on Wednesday.   :D

If anyone else wants to swap a Zone 'A' For Zone 'B' plese let me know.

Tickets via MRI arrived today.  Panic over.  We're in MB Zone C, arriving on Wednesday afternoon so I guess we'll see what happens when we get there.

Tickets arrived this morning. Bleu Sud zone A. Hope there will still be room when we arrive thurs aft- that part of Bleu is usually packed by then leaving us to 'rough it' in that field above.
Question- as the pass no longer sticks to the screen and hangs from the mirror- is this so it can be inspected or scanned? Its just we have no mirror and are thinking of sticking it to the glass instead. Any thoughts?

they will apparently be scanning the barcode on entry and exit (to avoid passes being used twice).   I'd imagine they will be able to scan through the glass but you might want to take a view once you get there?

Its a shame they no longer stick to the glass, they were always like a badge of honour on the way home and a reminder of good times as post LM life returned.

The van has the remnants of 4 years worth of passes- the angle of screen twixt dash means i cannot get the baked on gluey bit off. Tried everything but kinda like it now.

You should order some CA stickers then Mr SF - I've still got a few left.

So what happens when they get piissed off of scanning the bar codes of people leaving to go shopping or they are taking a leak or miss you on the way out but then scan you on the way back in but it tells them that you are already on the camp site. I can see this happening and it leading to arguments etc and possibly a few people ending up on the floor !

Absolutely, if you read my (many!) other posts on the subject I've said that what will be important for each of us will be making sure Pierre scans you on the way out whenever you leave the site.

Well.
What about when the tea lady kicks the three pin plug out of the wall?
What about when the battery goes flat in the scanner.
I assume the scanner will be wireless if not then there is the problem of someone catching the cable in the wing mirror.
How will he scanner stand up to one of those downpours they have from time to time.

Have you tried to tear the paper the Camping Tickets are made from?    The ones of previous years had the flimsy sticky bits so you couldn't detach them from the window without wrecking them.  I guess the new one are going to need guarding more closely as I would guess posession wil be all.
