That was rather good, as was the ad that preceded it.
First time I haven't skipped an ad on You Tube.
I'm beginning to feel a tingle of excitement, ferry out booked and plans being made.  ;D

Me too, as an owner and fan of the Stuttgart marque, can't wait to see how their comeback assault goes. http://www.porsche.com/microsite/mission2014-resettozero/usa.aspx#/philosophy

What took you so long Neil?
I've been excited about 2014 since I knew it would be the first race I'd be able to go to once I'd finished studying.
That Porsche are returning has just fuelled the excitement within me.
I may even put my cidre down and watch practice.   ;)

Good to hear you will be back next year. We have one of our Kiwi's coming back next year as well. Kyle, better known to us as Sunset due to his ability to fall asleep, sometime's minutes before sunset.
He performed the Haka with you at a DFH party one year.

Le Mans fact for the day:

"The mileage of Le Mans is equivalent to what a Grand Prix car does in a season"
Guy Smith, 2003 Winner of Le Mans

(so I read in the paper today - and it had prity Pics as well  ;) )

Really looking forward to seeing everyone again.  It's going to be good.   :)

Of course I won't put my cidre down to watch practice, I'll just take it with me and keep drinking.   ;D ;D ;D

Rhino - was I perhaps drunk when this Haka took place?

Email from ACO...

We contact you regarding your order for Le Mans 2014.
As you’re not ACO member anymore you can’t keep the benefit of your status of “Regular Client”.
It means we automatically register the same booking of the previous year.

Um - do we think that's a typo, they mean can't keep my booking?

Seems like the ACO ticketing department have changed the rules on 'repeat booking'. On the one hand I can see the logic of extending benefits for ACO members, but at what cost? Pissing off hundreds of regulars who may have been coming for decades but have not decided to be ACO members or have let their memberships lapse.

A very short sighted decision in my opinion. I'll put the point to my contact in the ACO ticketing department but I don't hold much hope of a U-turn if history is anything to judge by.

That will upset a few people who don't go any more, but make a killing on ebay selling MB tickets.

Title: Re: 2014 - getting excited now
Post by: smokie on October 24, 2013, 08:30:04 pm
Trust that's not aimed at me Barry!!! All my tickets have gone at cost to CA members!! One year I nearly lost out because an infrequent CA member pulled out of two tickets at a quite late stage and I hadn't been paid...

Anyway, the ACO have confirmed that my magicness will go without membership renewal. So my contacts here have been advised, as I am not going to become an ACO member in my own right. If anyone would be interested in cost price Bleu Nord tickets please PM me, cost of tickets, postage and membership would be equally split. I have till 6 November, but as I'm off with work to Africa on Saturday it would be infinitely preferable to sort it out before I go. (Last year's order was 5 tickets, Tom, Phil and Dottore, not sure if the ACO would allow me more but I can ask, if any interest).

Trust that's not aimed at me Barry!!!

Of course not Smokie!!
I apologise if you thought it was. :-[
We know all your spare tickets have always gone to CA members at face value.
Just commenting because you see the same names on ebay every year selling MB tickets

Title: Re: 2014 - getting excited now
Post by: Snoring Rhino on October 26, 2013, 12:39:46 am
yes it seems like the ACO are determind to break up long term groups because of a few ebay touts (good to see them loose out at last knockings) which means that many of us who have benifited from Smokies absence will have to get off our arse and get screwed by their besties if we do not get it together. At least they let us know now.

Post by: smokie on October 26, 2013, 09:14:13 am
Nah no offence taken really Barry :-)

Its agreed, ACO membership to be renewed. I may be buying one of these if I get to Sebring next year, it'd look good in Le Mans eh?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_06X3f-IcM

Amazon UK £190 cheapest

Amazon.com $107, or $130 for 6 man (probably plus some tax)

I bought the smaller version of that tent this year and it is excellent.

Due to being in my twilight years I decided I was time to buy a tent that I could stand up to get dressed in rather  than the Quequa tents where you have to lie down and wrestle to get dressed. ;D

I'll be there running the pits as usual. Possibly my last year in orange
doing my marshall training at Cadwell early Feb

25 917s - allegedly. Presented to the FIA at Zuffenhausen in March 1969 to prove that they complied with the new regs.

You can't count.  There were 4 more in the factory, still in pieces.

I don't think Ferrari ever had more than 7 in the same place at the same time, because they didn't have many more.

Those were the days  ;)

And where are Ferrari when you need them >:(

Still hoping to do both Martin, but as it's now three years since I did the 24, and with Porsche returning, I thought a return was in order.

I can only second that - some lowlife stole ours in 1999 - big disaster  cause we had to drink warm beer after that - and you can imagine what that means for Germans!

Neil, I wasn't aware that Rotherham had moved east across the North Sea. Those in Yorkshire will be aghast  :o

First time since I've lost all my stuff at Imola that I'm getting into LM mood today.
Motorhome booked this afternoon, new camera and a few lenses on the way by the end of next week, slowly getting it all back together. Still feels strange not being at the test weekend right now and sitting at home but we'll survive.   At the beer side of the fence in 2 weeks, back to the roots  ;D

I was just sorting out the paperwork and discovered that the ferry is booked for THE WEEK AFTER LE MANS!!!

A quick call to the ferry company and I found that I had been looking at 2013 and that all is well.  ;D

LOL I discovered last week I'd booked to go out on the Thursday and back the following day.

Unexpectedly, P&O changed it without charge

Is it just me or has the ACO done a great job of managing to hide all the maps/info practiques on their redesigned websites ??

I know the CA guide will resolve all this but wondering am I missing something.
