My tip of the day, go for option number three. Grin And here is why...
The Spa 24 Hours is the second best endurance race in Europe (first is of course LM, third is 24 Hours of the Nuerburgring, fourth is the 24 Hours of Zolder and then there isn't really any good event to follow). As you know, Spa-Francorchamps is in the Belgian Ardennes, which is one of the most beautiful places to be during that time of year. Then, there is an immensly strong field of 60 cars (the FIA GTs, 2 Moslers, a Moggi, a Stealth, a Vertigo and a Corvette to name just a few of the exotica... all jammy jammy motors). Also on the plus side is the Belgian food and drink which doesn't need to hide behind the French one. The Belgian beer is actually a lot better.
Camping is no problem at all as you are used to the LM standard. Try to be there latest on Friday to get a good pitch. As far as I know there's no pre booking of camping tickets. You get your's at the gate. If not, pitch your tent somewhere in the woods. General admission tickets are available at the gate as well. No pre booking needed. Just turn up and join the fun.
Last year's race attracted around 150.000 people, mostly of course from Belgium... and they know why. This year's race is in ten days. So pack your bags and come over.
The official internet site is this:  http://www.proximus24hours.com/index.html . You will find hotels and restaurants and other usefull information on here. Have fun...  Cheesy Grin

Edited because of typos no end, argh.

If it takes place count me in. I've never been there before and need guidance how to get there but I would be happy to meet you guys there.
1415  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:HISTORIC STUFF!!! on: July 15, 2003, 06:20:01 pm
BTW, the car no. 19 on one of the pictures looks suspiciously like the Aston Martin DB2 which finished in fifth overall in 1950. The car was driven by Abecassis and Macklin and was the winner in the up to 3 liter class. A bit of googling around sometimes does the job.  Grin

Edited because I cannot write properly.

Stunning collection !!! Do you also have pictures from 1962. I'm interested in pics of the TVR that was entered in that year. Sadly, it didn't went far and soon stopped in a huge clowd of water steam.

I have to agree with Russ on that one. "An appetising choice of menu" does include beer.  Grin

So, is there a chance that we still could have a last call during PQ ?
1419  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:november? on: July 07, 2003, 01:30:18 pm
That's a good idea to choose the Stella Bar as a meeting point for November. I guess there wont be any funfair. I recon they want to test how many people turn up for the first LMES race and apply minimal effort.

Signed although I don't need the channel pirates. I rather swim...  Grin. No, just kidding... between France and Germany there's no water.

Rob Barff will be there driving one of the LM TVRs (which won at Castle Combe last weekend I hasten to add).

...voted 40 to nil for tramways on rails.

I recon it would have been different if they asked us.
