To those interested in such things:
The following link is to an article about the efforts of the Nasamax team to use an alternate fuel at le Mans this year. http://www.theracesite.com/index.cfm?pagetype=2&form_article=5081

Hi Phil,
Is this what the Champ/Indy cars run on?
I know one shouldn't laugh at such things, but it's a strange sight to see a pit lane fire with this stuff. The first clue is usually when one of the re-fuelling crew seems to initiate an impromptu performance of the River Dance, followed very shortly by his colleagues throwing buckets of water at him. So apart from the burning, there's the drowning and concussion to worry about.

HI H, Yes I believe similar though not exactly the same. as an alcohol it would indeed burn with a colourless flame. The initial disadvantage appears to be that the fuel contains less energy per litre so would need to be allowed to run a larger fuel tank to be truly competetive.
