This year my son has his GCSE's which finish on the Friday before the race.

With me being completely selfish .....I am going on Tuesday!!!!!!

Can anybody possible offer a space for the trip down on Friday...I am quite happy to contribute for the pleasure of my son's company....and after all it will be his 4th visit to Le Sarthe.........which he really does'nt want to miss as he has become totally hooked....thanks to Dad!!!!

Yours hopefully

You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

Wishy, that's selfish !!! Sorry mate, can't help because I'll by coming from Germany. Otherwise you could consider your little problem sorted. I'm sure there're some who are able to step in though.

If all else fails, put him on Eurostar, and a cab from the station.  Does anyone still go Friday/Saturday?

I used to take my son to school.  He was on the bus that week, exams or not.

Sorry. I lost this

If I were to put him on eurostar .....I guess he would end up in Monaco and not Le Mans

So it would be safer to have a chaperone for the journey out .....after all he has led a sheltered life........so far!!!!!!!!

Wishy,
My Son is in the same boat, and I don't mean a ferry! He (and I) desperately want to go, but with exams, his racing etc. etc. its near impossible, but I know that I'm going to have to give in and maybe do a flying visit like we did a few years ago, over night Friday, back Sunday night.
Three things occur to me. 1. Roughly whereabouts are you based, for a quick collection/meet en-route., 2. What campsite are you on, and 3. What are the chances of getting another camping pass?

There is a small, and I mean small, chance that I can finally persuade a mate of mine to take his plane, but that really is a long shot!!

If I can help, I'll be delighted.

Hi tmk

We live in north east hampshire if that is not too far out of your way.

We will hopefully be on Maison Blanche.I am on the shortlist for tickets, same as last year.

With campsite passes have a look on here in the "sell or swap" forum.you will usually find some passes available or just put a posting that you are looking for a ticket and you will probably get a reply.

Lorry

It will be interesting to see how the"Black Widow " performs due to the complete rebuild during the closed season.

Ian hasn't had achance to test the new sequential gearbox....so he has a complete learning curve to go through in the 2 practice runs.

BTW the"shed" is now fine and dandy and will make it down on Sunday!!!!

So does this mean a Black respray?

The idea of a sequential Cortina gearbox still makes be giggle, but they do seem popular

Lorry

It is not a respray. We went upto the Westfield factory and collected a complete new body in my espace.

Mind you Ian had to sit on the floor all the way back,as I had to turn round the passengers seat ti fit the panels in.

A far as Cortinas are concerned. The box is a Quaife model, and in any case you also driver a Cortina!!!!!

The sheds do have their uses.

And my gearbox is real Sierra.  Well, it is a road car.  I don't know how it takes the punishment. Quaife also manage to get a sixth cog in there.  Its a straight swap (but does it have a speedo drive?)
