Haven't McLaren moved down to Portsmouth now??

That's the Mclaren Mercedes SLR assembly factory. I'm doing some contract work there at the moment. I doubt Ron even know's it exists!

Whoops!  Just re-read some of the last few posts and realized my cock-up, the MP4/4 was Honda powered.
Nice pic of Paragon, facilities have come along way since Ken Tyrrell ran his team out of a shed in his lumberyard.  Don't know if its for the better though.

I had the opportunity to dine with one of the senior members of the McLaren team recently and he simply gave me his card and said if I'm ever in England to give him a call and he'd show me around Paragon...simple as that.  Terrific guy too, had a great time chatting with him.

I great the following news with mixed feelings.

IMSA) today announced that it has invited Maserati to enter the MC12 in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) as a guest of the sanctioning body.

Phil,

Excuse my perhaps dumb question, but does that mean Sebring 2005 also? Huh ? Is it not a  little late for an invite, race is only 3 weeks away.

Nice post there Phil,
I would highly recommend to anyone if they ever get the chance to talk to Pete Lyons to do so.  I sat down and chatted with him at the Motorsport Collector in Chicago back in the mid-ninties when he was there signing copies of his superb book "Can-Am".  Really fascinating conversation, he was Autosport's GP editor before Roebuck and also covered the much missed North American Can-Am sportscar series. Knew all of the greats of the sixties and seventies and told me some terrific stories about the days when racers were men and endurance racing equalled F1 in popularity.

I found this on Pete's website www.petelyons.com
This was his mode of transportation to & from GP's when he was covering them for Autosport and Autoweek in the early seventies.
