No, the picture quality is awful at my end. It certainly seems to be a some sort of car tho. Jag XJ220? EMKA Aston? Rothmans Porsche?

Nordic, you really do need to buy a new scanner, the one you've got appears to be knackered  Wink

I'm going with the Aston option.

My life is now complete.

Cracking job, its the 86 ADA entry that finnished 8th overall

Thanks, Nordic, however I don't think it finished 8th O/A - that was the Lammers/Lloyd/Palmer 956 if my mammeries serve me.

Your mammeries have not let you down, the RLR 956 did finish 8th in 1983.
However this is the ADA car that raced in 1986 when it came home 8th.
Sorry if my first post was a bit misleading re the date.

Of course! What the furk was I thinking - '86 - sad race, Jo Gartner and all, Thanks for straightening me out, Nordic.
As an aside, anyone figure out what the strange vertical 'shark-fin' added, aerodynamically?

It's probably linked with lateral stability...  Huh

I remember '86' that was the year I saw somene well two actually walk away from the bottom end of the pits with the back end from a 956, it was surreal nobody challenged them they disappeared into the crowd heading towards the village.. I always wonder if they got it out.

I ended up with the front nearside corner (minus headlamp assy) of the van Der Merwe, Fouche 956B from the '85 race. The car hit the guard rail at the end of the pit lane, on cold tyres during the night. The impact occurred right infront of/below me but I was so hammered I never even noticed it till first light. There were no 'stalag luft' fences to scale back then, so it was easy to nip over the chainlink fence and grab it.
It resided in my flat as a plant stand for a couple of years before we moved - I can't think why, but I left the damn thing behind. It was too cool for school - I wish I still had it.

I think Gilles hit it on the screws regarding the shark fin thing.  It was quite en vogue for several years with the CART Champ Cars in their superspeedway configuration. Sadly I think the only time I ever saw it on a 962 was on the ill-fated Kenwood Kremer car in 1986.
