76  Club Arnage / 2016 / Re: Caen to Le Mans - help on: May 02, 2016, 09:59:02 pm
The train ride from Caen to Le Mans is a pleasant one, certainly. I did it last year on my way out. One thing to remember is that the ferry docks at Ouistreham which is around 18-20 kilometres from the nearest train station which is at Caen. So be prepared for either a cheap bus ride or an expensive cab fare after disembarkation.
77  Club Arnage / Help / Re: Expo-Best place for a single tent. on: April 24, 2016, 10:20:15 pm
Cow sheds are still there, but I very much doubt I'll be able to get pegs into the ground. If I remember rightly the cowsheds are built on concrete.
78  Club Arnage / Help / Expo-Best place for a single tent. on: April 24, 2016, 09:11:13 pm
Hi guys.

I'm on Expo this time round and I'll have a standard-type 2-person tent with a tarp that I can string between trees. No car. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good spot for me to pitch up, seeing as Expo isn't too well supplied with grassy bit that aren't concreted over.

Any ideas, anybody?
79  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: The who, when, what in, camping where thread, 2016. on: April 23, 2016, 06:08:34 pm
I guess this makes me the early bird so far.

Arriving on Sunday June 12 at Expo for 10am campsite opening.

Leaving very early on Monday June 20 for train, ferry and home.

Pray tell me where you gained the knowledge that Jeannine has left Aux Portes du Circuit?

I had a coffee with Jeannine yesterday and she is very much in fine form and looking forward to the season.

With due respect, I hate rumours like this. Unless nipped in the bud they spread like wildfire.

from here ?

Yep, that's the one. As she's obviously still there (excellent news, by the way) it looks as though that report was wrong or she's changed her mind. Which is great, as Jeannine's place is an important part of Le Mans for me.
81  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Ceremony of hands. on: March 27, 2016, 11:36:02 pm
Evening All.

As always, I'm pondering what next to do at Le Mans that I haven't done before. Having done the drivers parade I was thinking of doing Monday's scrutineering and the ceremony of hands where last year's winners have their handprints placed in a pavement marker.

Are either of these worth doing?

While we're on the subject of stuff to do, I know that Jannine has moved on from running 'Aux Portes du Circuit.' Is the place still running as I do like to have a coffee or two there on my arrival in Le Mans?

Unlike James Garner who was no slouch behind the wheel, apparently.
83  Club Arnage / General Discussion / RIP Brian Bedford on: January 14, 2016, 11:24:09 pm
Actor Brian Bedford from John Frankenheimer's 1966 classic 'Grand Prix' died yesterday.

RIP.

Slight change of plan.

85  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: 2016 tickets on: November 11, 2015, 02:33:01 pm
Booked a GE ticket and Expo permit yesterday via Speed Chills.

Roll on my departure date, June 9, 2016.
86  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: 2016 tickets on: November 03, 2015, 10:54:35 pm
This is the major reason that I decided that another year of ACO membership at north of 100 euros was just not worth it any more. So, when my renewal came up last month, I didn't bother.

Instead, the money I've saved has been spent with a ticket agency to cover their face value mark up (they are, after all, a business).

At least this way, I get the tickets I want, without the major annual "the sites crashed, I can't log on, there's no tickets in the campsite I want" ACO on-line tickets sales trauma.

Sod em!

Don't forget the annual 'Yes, you did order five camping permits in a block for Houx Annexe, but here's two for Mulsanne, two for Expo and one for Beausejour and none of them are on  connecting pitches.' experience.
87  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Brittany Ferries 2016 on: October 02, 2015, 03:30:59 pm
Just booked.

Outward: Portsmouth to St. Malo, 20:15, Thursday June 9.

Return: Roscoff to Plymouth, 1500, Tuesday June 21.
88  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Le Mans accommodation on: October 02, 2015, 12:43:52 am
I'm guessing the impending return of Ford might have something to do with the apparent early rush for accommodation and ferry bookings.
89  Club Arnage / General Discussion / 2016 tickets on: September 24, 2015, 11:04:01 pm
Hello All.

Does anybody know when tickets for Le Mans 2016 are going on sale. Agents or the ACO, I'm not fussy.
90  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Nissan will return next year on: August 09, 2015, 09:34:57 pm
They need to address one particular technical issue with their LMP1 car.

Specifically, it's complete crap.
