Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 entry list

In 1999 we had a combination if GT1 and Prototypes giving 16 works cars.
3 Toyotas 3 Merc (had a few problems) 4 Audi 2 Panoz 2 BMW 2 Nissan
plus a number of quasi works cars from BMW (DPR) and Courage Nissan
A vintage year for lots of reasons. My first Le Mans as well. Something I'll always remember fondly and with great pleasure.

Hi Barry, I think the problem has more o do with the construction site rather than the actual building. i.e. machines and supply dumps etc taking up additional space beyond the foot print of the building. I predict plenty of open space but not used come race day. Phil
In other words, they have no idea how much space they'll have available, so they've picked a number. I wouldn't be surprised if any spaces left end up being sold on the gate or at the ticket office just before and during race week. I have to stop by the ticket office when I arrive in June anyway, so might well ask if they've any MB space available still.

A thought for folk going across early. I'd suggest that if you're arriving at Caen either right before or just after June 6 then be prepared for major traffic delays, road closures, greater security at Customs and immigration and so on. Given the high-level guest list, the Caen area is likely to be crawling with bodyguards, anti-terrorist teams and suchlike.

With rumours over the last couple of years about beer bottles being banned, and now this, you'll be telling me they are banning tents next as the guy ropes are a trip hazard! Although they could ban any loud music recorded post 1975 with no real complaint from me If they banned the hybrids and only allowed cars that sounded like racing cars, as opposed to the bastard children of a back-alley orgy between some electric egg whisks and a particularly horny milk float then I'd be all for that. The hybrids are an engineering marvel, granted, but they don't have the sound of the 1958 Lister-Jaguar.

We stay on Pincenardiere next door. Don't think you can get tickets on the gate as Lofty said. Then again, I have never tried!!
These are still available on the ACO website. Or you can take your chances there will be some left from Le Rotunde.
My advice is book in advance and collect from there....... IT IS GOING TO BE BUSY THIS YEAR
All grandstands are fully booked. The ACO are calling ticket dealers asking to buy tickets back.
Speaking to my friends in LM and Brian at 1st Tickets, They are contemplating putting up new temporary Grandstands
I can order tickets from the ACO. Where do I collect them from and could I collect them at the weekend as I'd be arriving on either the 6th or 7th of June.

Club Arnage / General Discussion / The Annual ACO Ticket Lottery.
|
on: November 22, 2013, 03:17:44 pm

Afternoon all.
I run a blog as an informal kind of shop window (I'm a freelance scribbler) and I was thinking of a blog post regarding the annual ticket lottery run by the ACO. We've been putting up with it for years now. You order a dozen camping permits on the same site, probably your favourite site that you use every year, and hope to get them as a block. What you'll probably get is either the wrong number of permits, all the permits on the same site but scattered all over it, permits for the wrong campsite entirely or, worst of all, you'll get the right number of permits and they'll be spread across different sites so you don't even end up on the same campsite never mind with a single block of pitches.
I'm not sure if this'll go down well with the ACO, but if anybody's prepared to share their horror stories with me then feel free to send me a PM or put them on the thread. If you fancy being either completely anonymous or using an alias other than your username that's no problem and I'd be quite happy not to mention CA at all if that would be a problem.
Hope this doesn't ruffle any feathers at CA HQ, but I think it's something worth addressing. All the best.

The first time I saw the DW I thought somebody had already crashed it.
I'm not keen on the diesel-electric hybrids either. They don't like proper racing cars so much as the bastard child of some ghastly backstreet quickie between a lawnmower and an eggwhisk.
