Andy my man.  Good to hear from you as well.  Yes Pikes Peak Hillclimb is a heckava race for sure.  It is frightening to look at the edge of the road and only see blue sky.  That's the way it is up in elevation.  Start line and first 2/3 rds of race is among the trees but above the tree line it's a bit disoriented especially driving at high speeds.  And, yes, the dirt road was a hoot in its day.  Lots more drifting for sure.  Last Sunday in June, just after LeMans.  Hope to see you.  Cheers and drive it like you stole it!!!!!

Hey Guys.  Been a long time since I've been on the CA site.  Good to see some of the old timers still posting.  Congrats on 25 years of excellent information and help to race fans interested in sports car racing.  I haven't been to Le Mans, Sebring, or Petit Le Mans in quite a few years.  Am now in Colorado for the summers to escape the hot, humid summers in Houston.  So I have hooked up to the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb in Colorado Springs as a race official.  (like a track worker).  So if anyone finds themselves wanting to see some Race to the Clouds racing come on to Colorado Springs the last Sunday of June.  Finish line is 14,110 feet.  Second oldest racing event in the USA.

Yep the race ain't much for sure.  The GTLM series is good and that's about the only part worth watching.  As to the Daytona Prototypes, they are lapping about 10 seconds a lap or more slower than the LMP1 cars a couple of years back.  Second rate racing but that's all we got over here now folks since NASCRAP took over.  Will try to watch some ELMS races on internet if I can find them.

"Sadly I think we may be watching the demise of sportscar racing in America right before our eyes." per Fax and you are absolutely right at least for me.  Enjoyed Sebring, Road Atlanta, Houston, Watkins Glen but now, no more.  Will hope to watch some real racing in June on TV and think of the good old days even back to CanAm.  What a sorry state we are in.

Sorry can't make it this year.  I'm in Utah on a mountain top enjoying cooler weather than Texas.  Have fun everyone. Smiley Smiley Smiley

I really hate that they killed the P1 class here in the US.  I enjoyed that level of racing as much or more in some cases that the other classes.  What a shame.  Hope to see some Europe races on the internet with P1 participation.  NASCAR certainly raised the level of racing awareness in the US.  It's just a high speed demolition derby and very boring unless there is a wreck.  I hope "real" racing that we all love doesn't go that way.  Bring back the days when real Fords, Chevy's, Dodges's, Mercury's, Plymouth's ruled.  Those were the days!!!

....and then there was Rocky's nasty crash.  I felt sick and disbelief on both of them when I saw the disintegration happening before my eyes.  Thank God nobody died or appeared to be seriously injured though I understand that Rockenfeller is still in the hospital.   Anyone hear an update on his condition?   ....and then the sole survivor marched right on through and took the victory right out of the jaws of the Puggies...  what guts and fortitude to do that after what they saw happen to the other two Audis.  Got to hand it to the new guys.

...and the number 73 Corvette did a great job of hanging in there and bringing home the bacon.  Congrats to them, too bad Johnny O wasn't one of the drivers.

Love the pix.  Nice shots.  Thanks for sharing since I couldn't go this year.

It's been a nasty winter for Texas with the snow and ice as well AND some cold weather for Florida could still be in play mid-March.  My advice, be prepared just in case.  Bring the long johns and something warm to sleep in.  Canada Phil should be able to give some good advice on how to prepare even if it is Florida.  Have fun folks, sorry I won't be there.

Today was a screw job for sure.  They need to have "instant replay" for dumbass refs to get it right.  I know they are having to watch a lot of players and stuff going on in a play like that but when the outcome is so important they proved the current system is faulty.  Go USA!!!!!!

I am stunned!!!  I can't believe the Pugs fell short.  ...and the GT-2 Corvettes didn't finish.  This is a "24" to remember.

The wife and I are about to have some BBQ ribs and then some watermelon as I listen to Radio Le Mans until 5 when SpeedTv reconnects.  It's hot and very humid here, not at all like the weather in Le Mans right now.  ...but I can pretend can't I? Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh
