I listened to Hindy and Titch's commentary online whilst at work this afternoon...and I'm looking forward to Sunday even more now, especially as I missed out on LM this year  Sad. Thanks to Peugeot for supplying my free ticket...

I'll definitely be there from the Friday through to the Sunday pm finish. I've been to all of the Britcar 24s since it started in '05 and it really does get better and better each year. Hopefully with WRR organising the infield camping there'll be more of a crowd to enjoy it this year too. Some friends of mine who are in their debut season of racing in the Production S1 category will be entering this year's 24 in their 2.0 litre Clio Cup! Should be 'interesting' as they spend a large proportion of the time watching the mirror for rapidly approaching Moslers, F430s, 997s and the like!  Shocked

And the added bonus is that I only live about 20 minutes from Silverstone so I haven't got to worry about accommodation!  Grin

I went along on Sunday with the missus and some friends. Loads to see as usual. Was disappointed that I didn't get to see the Sauber race as that was going to be my highlight of the weekend, having not seen it for 20 years! A shame it was damaged.

Took plenty of photos which I'm gradually uploading to my Pbase gallery. The rally ones (including the 205 T16's roll) and Group C ones are already up. Click the link below to have a look.  Smiley

Cheque posted to you yesterday, Del. Hopefully there'll be a postman working for long enough for you to receive it... Roll Eyes

We're in pit garage 9a, so come say hi Smiley

Will do, Rich.

I will be definitely going along to this with my brother. I've been to both of the previous Silverstone 24hrs, as well as the old Willhire 24hrs at Snett in the early 90s, and they are cracking little events. As Piglet mentioned, there's never going to be a huge crowd for this type of event (I heard it was 93 paying punters in '05), but last year's better weather seemed to bring a few more out to watch.

So, if you see two fellas in some sort of 4x4 Hyundai (which I should be able to blag from work as our 'base' for the weekend), come and say hello. I for one am really looking forward to this!  Grin

I met 'Trackside' at Luffield and had a quick a chat just to say hello. He had the best camping option - at home!

The joys of living a few miles from Silverstone!  Wink Nice to meet you too; good weekend, wasn't it?

There are some packed entry lists on the HSCC site.

http://www.hscc.org.uk/Classic%20entries.htm

Plenty of Jags, Porsches, Nissans et al in the Group C events. The World Sportscar Masters race on Saturday evening looks like it'll be a cracker too with several GT40s and Lola T70s along with a (the?) Ferrari 712, a couple of Lotus 30s, Alfa T33, Gulf Mirage and quite a few gorgeous Chevron B8s and B16s.

Can't wait!  Grin

Got weekend tickets for the Classic so will probably be there Saturday and Sunday. Very much looking forward to the Group C races and the Saturday evening World Sportscar Masters race. Hopefully the weather will have cheered up by then... Roll Eyes

Some twonk in a Renault Scenic cut me up on a roundabout near Milton Keynes...does that count?  Wink

Great picture; not something you see everyday now, is it?  Grin

Me and Mrs Trackside will be in this.

Fortunately got a 200SX and a Focus ST170 coming with us to carry all our camping paraphernalia!  Grin

Re: your comments above. If I ever use the 2x, I switch to manual focus because, as you quite rightly pointed out, by the time it's focused using AF, the race would be finished!  Roll Eyes As I said though, I only ever use it in 'extreme' circumstances (I think I've used it twice in the 12 months I've owned it) so I'm not unduly worried by it's relative lack of performance.

It does stop down by 2 which makes low light photography a no-no, unless I go for a high ISO. Unfortunately that means a nasty amount of noise on my D70. Might have a look at a 1.4x though if you only lose 1 stop. May be a better option.

Tertre Rouge looks promising, but I hope you have a good telephoto lens with you since you are some way from the action. I have press passes so it helps enormously but ever so I was using a 70/200 f2.8 with a TC14E 1.4X multiplier thus effectively making it a 300mm lens, and that is at about 10 yds from the cars as they pass.

I use a 70-300mm f4.5/5.6 zoom which is normally adequate, but I do have a 2x teleconverter as a standby option. Need to dig out the monopod if I'm going to use this though.

Looking forward to giving it some serious use next week!  Grin

Good photos there. As per a previous question, were they taken from public areas or did you have media access? Look like they're from the inside of Mulsanne and Indy. Can you get there during the race / quallie via a campsite or road of some sort, or is it a case of local knowledge only  Wink?

Looking forward to trying out the new Tetre Rouge for photos, having seen some pics my bro took there at the weekend.

Just had a text from my brother (Skid Solo on here) who is down at Portsmouth waiting to get on the ferry to Le Havre with Christopher and a couple of others.

Git!
