It didn't look very sunny today!

That's an understatement ...
Just got back at the hotel, soaking wet !  Cameragear even stopped working right before the ELMS race was flagged off, hope everything gets back in shape tomorrow.
One battery seems completely dead, won't be easy to get through the 6 hours tomorrow.

Kristof, What camera are you using?  Maybe someone can help you with batteries to cover you tomorrow? I have some canon SLR batteries

Wowsers, you drowned a 1d?? Given that those things are as weatherproof as Canon make, I'm slightly worried about bringing my less weather proofed camera now!

I can't help I'm afraid, my batteries are completely wrong.  I don't know what Camera rick Wilson uses - he might be worth a shout - I do know that the only other person who might have been worth a shout, is at Monza for Blancpain.

The only answer is raincoat for your camera and lens, but good made-to-measure protection is not cheap.
I hate shooting in the wet for that and many other reasons, but some of my most memorable images are in the rain, or better still just after the rain when the sun peeks between clouds. The Nikon D2 and D3 seem pretty good in the wet and I haven't managed to soak one into failure ... yet.

And that's exactly what's wrong with 4 class ACO rules racing ...... NOTHING!

What a race!

Great drought-breaker for McNish and TK who haven't won since Sebring 2012! Epic last 30 minutes with 30 second gap to close.

Ditto - was superb to watch and see the gap close lap by lap, until a couple of laps before the flag.

managed to catch the last 3 hours of live feed. REadio Le Mans commentary. The last 20 minutes they had so much to talk about. Excellent video directing as they did not get stuck on just the overall leaders but switched between the classes all of which were having a good battle.

We had a great day, Zak really enjoyed it.
Great to meet up with Bob U, Jimma George and Andy, also Paul Landman and son, and of course Lord Steve. Barry, sorry we lost touch.

Well, most of it was my fault.  I didn't have any raincover with me (which I usually do), since I didn't expect this amount of rain.  The 1D has its limits too, and when I felt I was getting soaked completely I knew the camera would follow at some point.  I just couldn't stop shooting, first real assignment after my leg-accident, so had to deliver good pictures (which came out pretty well afterwards).  The gear took (another) beating but ultimately survived, although it took untill Sunday afternoon being able to use the big 300 again ... condens between the glass elements.  Apparently I wasn't the only one with that problem, spoke to a few other photogs who had the same issues.

New batteries were ordered today, now thinking about getting an extra camera (1Dx, 7D, 5DIII) and watching the used market for an extra tele (really into the 500 right now).

Bumped on to Barry on Sunday, last time he saw me was in an ambulance ... good to be back my feet again  ;D.

Few more teasers, lots more to come (including Sebring)

Well then, how about that? What a good race. If each round of the championship is as good as that then I think the WEC might end up surviving. And we have yet to see the 2013 Toyota. Should make for a pretty good season of racing. I just hope that some of the manufacturers who are sat on the fence are taking note!
