Title: 12 Man Tent
Post by: Robspot on April 17, 2005, 11:45:57 pm
I'm looking to buy a 12 man tent, preferably with 4 rooms. Can anyone recommend one and where to buy it?

Theres only three of us (although I should really count for at least two) and we want one "bedroom" each and one for storage.

Although your fears are well grounded JP becasue one of our party can produce the same amount of gas as at least 12 men.

I can't vouch for the first one, but I have the 9 man version of the Sunncamp and am very pleased with it - it has a large living space in case of crap weather but if you've got gazebo's etc to use for this you might find that it loses you sleeping space.   You'd have to be very friendly to get in as many people as they say you will!

I was very disappointed that you have to supply your own 9 men...; ;)

Very sensible Rob. We tend to take individual tents, but each person has a three man or four man tent. How the hell they expect you to get three people into one of those tiny ones is beyond me, unless of course you are very friendly!! Don't forget you can pitch more than one tent per car so that is another option for you!

We've currently only got one 2 man tent between us so we thought rather than buy two more tents and a gazebo we could get a better package with a large tent, oh and a gazebo.

We sleep either one person or a couple in each of the "bedrooms" of the Sunncamp and that's about enough!

I am sure that site beginning with 'e' will have a good selection.

They do but all claiming to be the highest spec you can buy. Only problem is that if you search for the make of tent they are selling, it doesn't seem to exist in the real world.

Fran would be bitterly disappointed if I didn't suggest an alternative to camping in a twelve man tent....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14256&item=4542570681&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Nobody is ever nervous about sharing one of these, (except for in mine, which is haunted  :o) , folk are normally delighted with the offer of such luxury accommodation.

Oh and Steve you're welcome to come along on our next trip out to the local convent school with the puppies and a big tin of dolly mixtures..

Then you better bring a new starter motor with you, or your wrist will get tired from using the 4ft long starter handle.

Here's an earlier Commer out on the streets searching for lost souls. The Motor Church Of St George.

Hey Andy of topic again I believe that picture belongs on "Commer Replacement" where it does indeed qualify
as I think it is a FODEN circa 1943. or the set of Dads Army ;D

Phil, actually I think it might be an AEC. With a Gardner diesel engine. But it looks like the sort of thing the wierdos at Commer could have built.

I may confirm the AEC origin, because the radiator looks like the one of our AEC london bus...
