Title: Any interest in a friendly 6 a side footie match ?
Post by: Darren on April 28, 2003, 02:06:56 pm
On the basis that we have various groups of mad arsed Le Mans vets - is there any interest in a 6 a side kick around.  We usually have a game on the grass opposite Houx by the roundabout.  Nothing serious and always involves plenty of drink and laughter at pathetic attempts to play football.  I remember some others set something up in Houx a few years ago but looked too serious.

comments on a post card please ..........................

We usually have a kick around on the grass beyond the toilet block, other side of roundabout adjacent to the extended Houx Annexe site or whate ever it will be called this year.  Unless they have decided to turn it in to a car park or caravan site.

We are in Houx this year - for the 2nd year.

How about Friday afternoon - few beers and a kick around and if the weather permits you could join us for a swin in our pool !

Anyone welcome or is it a close 6 a side game?

We could field a team of 6 from our bunch - no talented players, but we promise to be knackered after 10 minutes, have a laugh, drink far too much during the game and fall over a lot?

As I started this thread and we always have a kick around on the said pitch, anyone is welcome provided that they play on the basis that it is a kickaround.  All goals will be celebrated by a drink, anyone showing talent will immediately be substituted, the goal scorerer will be required to drain a bottle - and so on.................oh and if you intend to wear a scummers shirt leave it at home!

On the basis that the temparature will be sahara desert or biblical rain storm, suggest mid to late afternoon kick off.  If any one wishes to take part email me your team and team selection and I will post the details on our website -

Like the sound of mid afternoon, long lie in, trip up the pitlane then get bladdered whilst kicking one. Followed by the usual friday night barbe and alcohol induced entertainment.

"Smell that son, smells like victory"

"You come here to fight or surf son"

"Nice shooting.............that gets you a case of beer"

"But Charlie don't surf"

What a film...................................

There are a couple of great books on the film, one is written by the directors daughter, which is a must to read if you are a fan.  Gives you info like the surf boards used were given to his kids to use in his pool and the local airforce was used for the helicoptor scenes but were often called on to go and shoot a feww people and would return with a few more bullet holes etc. etc.  The indians used were a real local tribe that came to the film site and camped for the filming........................very interesting subject

Again - great film.....................

"I love the smell of Castrol R in the morning"

Whats the book title?  Sounds like a crackin read...  Just finished Perry McCarthy's book - "Flat Out Flat Broke" well worth picking up...

Francis Ford's wife also made a documentary about the making of apocalypse called Heart of Darkness, well worth watching. If you think you get hammered during LM week, just see the state Dennis Hopper is in!!!!!!! 8)

That scene where sheen punches the mirror, didn't he break bones in his hand, was pissed and soon after had a heart attack!! Sounds as though he should come to Le Mans.

Should we bring along our cricket set? We could have a game of bundle cricket?
This involves '10 dumps' rugby tackling you if your not quick enogth between the wickets.
