Title: Champoo Bar Drinks Saturday Night
Post by: Brad Zarse on March 17, 2004, 06:09:57 pm
So - this is the annual session huh?

What time?  Any dress code?

Is it just turn up, get a beer and find a pew?  or see a man at the door who will let you in if you show him your CA T-shirt??  Is it a dodgy Male Bonding session? or are there women to jolly things along?

Pauladrooler - I am 22 - and I will be arriving at 10 pm - if none of the other drunken idiots have managed to errect a tent for you by then, I will happily oblige  ;D :P

Anyway - someone give us the definitive arrangements as Ive not been before and Im scared all you big Le-mans veterans will over power me....

I will be bringing me dad as well - and he's old like you lot  :o

We have only ever stayed at Camping Bleu Sud before - this time we are in Karting Nord - any noticable change in atmosphere??

Cheers
Brad

 :-*

'Women to jolly us along' ?? - 'old like you lot' ??

PAULA THE DROOLER??

You seriously want to stay away from her - false boobs so I have heard!!

Don't worry about the 'veterans' they are all big softies really!

I just can't wait to meet a 22 year old at Le Mans - you will be in the minority, being so young and all :-*

PS
Paula the Drooler is AT LEAST 66 (and then some!)

Paula the Drooler is AT LEAST 66 (and then some!)

And that's just her chest size! You should see her waist too. Rhino Jnr, you do not want her big thick thighs wrapped around your neck, I can assure you. You'd be traumatised and probably scarred for ever. Here's a pic BigH took last year.

Crikey -- shes a cracker!!  :o

Can we have a YOUNG PEOPLES THREAD?? for everyone younger than 30 who want to go to Le-mans,  get drunk, watch the racing, and proivde the "adult entertainment" that has sadly been removed (i swear my dad knew far too much about where it should have all been last year!!!)

RS2 Babe - you are married are you not?  and if notq - you must be old - owing to my logic, you drive and RS2 - the last RS released was an RS2000 - if they went through the RS's at 1 per year - you would be ummm......2 thousand years old........
 ;)

So - the Shampoo bar is for veterans only ?  or people who want to meet with petrol heads, get drunk and watch the racing......

Last year that bar was really expensive was it not?

Brad

P.S.  The Snoring Rhino is in New York right now - so if you are all sleeping better - that will be why!!

Sorry to all you manhatten and surrounding state residents!!

Good grief!

Thank goodness I am married to a car nut and not just a nut!

Snoring Rhinos Son - Our RS2 is an AUDI (Porsche Avant) only a few made and it goes dead fast especially when I drive it (although that's not often as MrRS2 is quite protective of his voitures)

RS2000 - escorts? I don't think so! although I must admit to having a thing about the ezzy Mexico!

the RS2 is luuurvely (and for sale) but then again so am I! Oh but I am NOT for sale ha ha ha (and I am not flippin old)

See you in the shampoo bar then - you will recognise me 'cos I will be wearing this drop dead gorgeous T shirt! (sorry, me not the T shirt drop dead gorgeous that is)

Here is our hairdresser, who keeps our barnets just right. Robbo, you'll love him/her, and if you're lucky we could arrange a wash and blow.
My dear Bradford, make sure you bring your own shampoo, Vosene is a favorite of mine and also seems to keep the ants at bay.

(rcutler: Is she taking a drag on that fag or what!! Reminds of that quote " meet mah noo girl friend, she can suck the chrome off a tow bar". Now what film was that in...?)

Beware  :o  you know not what den of seedy iniquity that you will enter in June....prepare to be addicted....that is if you retain your memory ;D

Like many, I fall into the nearly KOS category at 44, but as to youngsters, re my post seeking an extra Karting Nord ticket, I will also be leading 2 x fearless 18 year olds into the same arena....

Take care, enjoy and remember, don't do anything that your dad would wouldn't do....

Remember we oldies done it, long before and better, than the young 'guns'. firing blanks and bullsh*t ever did. nothings new is it??
WHY does everyone keep on about drinking???? I never touch the stuff myself. but am willing to learn!!!!
I would like to be taught by including but not exclusively( forgive if i miss out a few) all CA members. and anyone bearing alcohol.

Mg Mark -

Look out for us - you will see the car - its an MGF Trophy 160 - theres not many of em so the chances are it will be the only one in the site (its blue)

if the 18 yr olds are female, my tent sleeps four - if they are male - then im sure we can find a use for them (i particuarly hate doing the washing Up at Le-Mans!)

Best piece of advice I can give anyone - spend 8 quid at argos and bring one of those stretcher bed things - almost as comfy as my bed at home!!  Obviously this is only for the first night, as you have to stay up for the whole race - its the law!!

Brad

Actually Robbo - we are - we are booked in with them on Kariting Nord - i dont know what the deal is though cos the old man organised it.

Even so - there are only 500 MGF Trophy 160's in existence, so if there is more than one of each colour at Le-Mans i will be very shocked!!  :o

if you're coming with the MG club, make sure you make urself known,  I'll be proudly wearing the CS Tshirt that you sent me,  or we will have Rhino Racing T Shirts on if i can organise them!!

18 yr olds - male or female??   ;D

Steve, a change of topic, but...
One of my first ever motorsport experiences (actually, come to think of it, my very first) was at Santa Pod. I almost kept the pants I filled when I got too close to a dragster just as he fired it up, as a souvenir. I should have realised something earth shattering and bowel loosening was about to happen when everyone else started to back away.
I'd quite like to make another visit and aquaint another generation with what bowels can actually do; what and when is the best meet of the year?

Hi H
I'd certainly defer to Steve, given his extensive knowledge of this type of racing, but it always used to be the Summernationals in August - could all have changed in the last 10 years of course.
Coincidentally, the Mac Tools Gatornationals are being run at Gainsville FL this very weekend. This is a bit of a pisser, because it always clashes with Sebring 12 Hours, otherwise I'd deffo have gone.

The single best is the Euro Finals in September, which for the first time in many years does nmot clash with the Goodwood Revival.
But, The Main Event, on Spring Bank Holiday weekend is a reallly good precurssor to Le Mans. First round of FIA Top Fuel, FIA Top Methanol Pro Mod, Pro Stock........

Aaah, The Antici---pation.

I'll be there, just look out for the TTTD flag on the campsite...

Make sure you go to an event with Top Fuel Dragsters running - they REALLY are an experience!

The sound is SO loud that you dont hear it, you just feel it - it PUNCHES you in the chest.

It is SOOOOO fantastic !

Its nearly as good as le-mans except for the fact that it only lasts for 4-6 seconds a run!

H,

If you want the earth to move for you at a drag race, you certainly need to be there to see the Top Fuel dragsters and Funny cars.

The Funny cars mostly make 'demonstration' runs as there is no official European championship rounds.

However, there is a European Top Fuel championship and this comes to Santa Pod for the 'Main Event' from 28th to 31st of May and the European Finals from 9th to 12th September.
Also, you have see some UK Fuelers running / testing at other events such as the Summernationals June 26th and 27th and the season opening Thunderball over Easter weekend.

Either way, the soiled trouser effect is well worth it.  These 'cars' are the fastest accelerating vehicles on earth and are capable of 300+ mph in 4.8 secs from a standing start to the quarter mile.

If you want some info from Santa Pod, see http://www.santapod.com/ (http://www.santapod.com/)
and for a flavour of European drag racing http://www.eurodragster.com/ (http://www.eurodragster.com/).

If the weather behaves, I'm off to the Pod for Easter, and Steve TTTD will also be there.

Hmmm?  Good point.  Looks like I'll have to modify the extraction system - alternatively, I could tarmac the roof and issue everyone with rubber pants.

I'm sure the environmental health people will be pleased with my attempts to improve my customers health and safety.  I need to do a bit of brown nosing to get back in their good books - buts thats another story - as the court case isn't settled yet, I can't disclose further details.

Ah, Spring is here, booking confirmations are in hand and preparations are apace for the annual pilgrimmage. Talk of the champagne bar gathering always gets the old juices flowing. I remember one particular gathering not so long ago when the "de rigeur" attire was an Arab headdress. Probably not such a good idea these days!

Suppose that the best plan is crew t shirts this year?

Anyway, Les Tres Hombres (7 of us including two lovely layyyydieeeessss) will be at the Champers bar at 9pm Sat night. If we haven't bumped into you on the Thursday / Friday on Maison Blanche or opposite the pits on Saturday for the race we look forward to seeing you all there.
Best wishes folks

Can't say if we'll be pitched near you. I presume you're on MB but on the main site. We usually end up on the annexe which is handy for the impromptu drag racing on the adjacent B road on mad friday. Look out for the blue Tres Hombres flag with white lettering (we're usually near the concrete wall) and pop in for a cup of tea. Alternatively, come prepared to meet a load of sozzled blokes and bring a paper plate for a share of the barbie Friday night.

See you there

Your Lordship!!!!!!

Good to have you back Sir!! Trust the catering arrangements are still in place that we discussed over a plate of Epworth's finest those few months back??

Talking of your beloved hometown, you just wouldn't believe where I was on Wednesday?? OK, you would...........

Well I parked right outside aforementioned bhaji emporium!! Was a "smash and grab" raid during the day. I was on a mission to Ward Cycles just down the road to pick up my new cyclo-cross frame, alas time did not allow for a meet so I didn't bother phoning to announce my arrival. But I did think of you lots sweetie!

Looking forward to our usual beer or ten on MB. Not arriving until Friday lunchtime (missing qually for the first time since 1989!  :'( ) but on the upside, will be joining your good selves on the beer side of the fence for pre-race proceedings if you don't mind! It's my 40th on the Sunday if you remember and with two "virgins" in tow, will be showing them the sights, including a deffo visit to the Champers doo-daa on Saturday eve!!!

Toodle pip your Lordiness .. counting the days!!  ;D

What Year? You mean, narrow it down? Jeez, all I can say with any certainty is that it wasn't yesterday.
I remember finding myself in the village about what must have been a few hours after the above photos. The Elvis's had definitely peaked, and there were several lying in the gutter, and a couple slumped against a wall. All were unconscious. It was a bizarre sight without a doubt, especially as my own senses were somewhat away with the fairies. Perhaps there had been an air disaster and all the passengers had been Elvis? Maybe there had been a seance in the village, and many Elvis's had been brought back from the dead? Or even a dirty glass and a dodgy sausage at Tetre Rouge.
A great effort, probably the best I've seen.
Fifteen of us dressed up as surgeons one year, and managed to perform check ups and mouth to mouth on many passers by. Well, self examination isn't the answer to everything, after all. Couldn't find a willing liver donor anywhere though. Which is probably just as well.

I'm pretty certain this was 94, certainly my own personal Elvis had left the building that year. If anyone has the back issues of the relevant  post-LM Autosport, on the back page there's a Drinkers review of the race and a photo or two of the Elvis's (Elvii?). I think the strap line said something about the French being bemused by the Brits.

Don't know why I remember it, I just do.

PS I can do a great Elvis impersonation; I lie on my back in a wooden box with my top lip curled.  Huh-huh-huh-sing-ya-song baby :P

Hear ye, hear ye!
Let all those having business with the grand court of Club Arnage and Les Tres Hombres D'arlo pay heed to my words.
For 'tis written henceforth and forthwith that the one known as Saveloy has made representations to the upper chamber of Maison Blanche.
From this day on it is decreed that he, and he alone, shall be known as The Duke of Saveloy and shall be worthy of all the priveledges associated with that title.
Mere serfs will lower their heads in his presence and traders will bestow upon him gifts of fine fare and stubbies of French lager.
Furthermore, The Duke of Saveloy shall mount his trusty charger and go forth, leading men into battle to defeat the forces of evil, sobriety and moderation.

I call to thee, good men and true, to stand by the noble Duke and to rally to the cause at the shampoo bar on't Saturday night.

Good luck in thy cause noble Duke.

Hurrah!!!!!

A motto for the Duke:

The Duke of Saveloy is a man of honour open to Champagne bribery.

It's a good one M'lud.
I'm a little worried about the reference to "honour" though. Also, getting ones tongue around "homo honestus" may be fraught with danger. Are they any legal or contractual pitfalls that we need to know about concerning the accuracy or abuse of a motto?
Notwithstanding the above, then I suggest Sav has it embroidered in gold thread on the peak of his cap. Failing that, a patch on his y-fronts should do the trick. A tattoo on the scrotum is just going too far.

Had rather hoped that photo would not reach circulation. I have a similar one where I appear rather flushed!!!!!
Let's as you suggest, put it down to the beer and not the proximity to one's brother's arse.

Does this finally earn me a TWATS t shirt which apparently was to be forthcoming last year but didn't materialise. I tried to TWAT one of the binocular thingies on the top of the Empire State Building in January but a security guard saw me and made me remove said offending sticker before I had a photo taken. Bugger!

Still, managed to TWAT the bog on the Virgin flight coming over. Outrageous behaviour for one of the landed gentry I know..........

not bad Dunksy it only took you four attempts to get it right, unlike your driving test!!!!

are we going to participate in some naked bar flying in the champagne tent as per 2001? it's a shame there are no photos of that one.

Go through the main entrance through the tunnel underneath the track into the direction of the pits and you can't miss it.

on the left as you come out of the tunnel from the main entrance.

Or between the village and the fun fair.

How may times have you been to LM. It will give us some idea of how much stick to give you.

Don't you just hate the way you reply at the same time as someone else with exactly the same answer.

6th year at LM.  How much stick does that warrent!!

I used to go with what was called the dream team. 30 car nuts from Coventry in Bright orange shirts!

Any one remember us, there still a few left!!

I guess that the 6th year sees you approaching veteran status....it's our (Tres Hombres) 10th anniversary trip this year so mucho celebrations in order. Expect to spend an inordinate amount of time in the shampoo bar foloowed by customary visit to the Tartiflette vendor for munchies.

The drinks are on Pete (but don't tell him I said so)

Can anyone tell me what happened to the strippers last year on the fairground. They were an essential ritual at Le Mans and it were'nt the same without 'em. I nearly had to get the sock out in disappointment!

Lord Steve

I remember a long sad thread about this sometime after last years race.

I for one was most depressed and deflated for the rest of the weekend after having not found the fabled red lorry.
It's the only reason one of our lot goes each year - he was near suicidal last year.

Maybe we can 'bring our own' entertainment - anyone have any contacts  ;)

Sounds intriguing!
What exactly are you looking into or shouldn't I ask?

Probably not enough notice for this year but 2005 could see a group of young lady "dancers" making their way down to La Sarthe for the weekend.

Is this another of your Thai connections JP?

No, I know a guy who has a "Security" company. They provide doormen to several lap dancing bars. We're discussing the logistics/security etc of setting up a marquee at Le Mans next year.

FANTASTIC IDEA !!

See my thread "Fairground Attractions" currently on page 9 .......

Something tells me that BigH got the wrong end of the stick as far as what we really like looking at, though  :o :o.

Still, nothing new there then  ::) ::) ::)

I can bring along my small mobile kebab burner trolley and set up by the Shampoo Bar.

Why are so many people getting all excited about meeting up somewhere to wash their hair.  ??? ???

.......confused.

Felix, how long have you ben in the fish and chip trade?????  You should know by now how much the fat from the friers makes your clothes, skin and hair smell like a block of lard. The meeting at the Shampoo Bar is so that anyone unfortunate enough to camp near you can get the grease out of their hair!!   ;D ;D

Gilles, you'll need to pre-warn the Shampoo bar to lay on extra tables and chairs and booze for the mass CA t-shirt event.

Should make for an interesting group photo.  Anyone have a superwide angled lens?

Post by: Perdu on May 04, 2004, 05:01:19 pm
Steve, I'm worrying about this super wide anged lens thing... A bit cruel innit? Can't we arrange for one that will reduce our apparrent width, out of a humanitarian attitude.

Also a bit worried about some of the blokes travelling down with Nick and I, some of them hardly have anything of a beergut. Luckily they don't have CA tee shirts either and may not even join us at the Shampoo Bar, but I wouldn't want folks to think they should set a precedent.

 :D :D :D

Just as well not use a fish eye then, I wouldn't want to embarass and humiliate people.  ;)

When I fillet the fish, I always remove the fish eye as this does not taste very nice and may make you chunder.  :-X
