In the lifespan of internet forums that is a pretty impressive achievement!
2  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Le Mans 2017 Reflection on: June 28, 2017, 12:38:06 pm
I must be getting old because Bleu Nord campsite was way noisier than I remember it having been after being inside the circuit last few years. Loud music and fireworks all Friday night and less but the same Sunday. Saturday night we were out for some reason...Loud generator next to my head (why do generator users always put them far from themselves and hence closer to their neighbours - so considerate!) meant little sleep which would have been fine if we'd been able to catch up in the day but the heat made that impossible in a tent.
Toilets and showers were OK but not great but no water point in the heat was poor in my view. We found one but I can't remember not having a water point before.
There was some daft behaviour but not too bad, only time I got worried some drunk guys were setting off paper lanterns (great idea in a grassy area in that heat!) which wouldn't rise and kept landing on vehicles and at one point a tent. They thought it hilarious.
With all the above we had a cracking trip - great race, great weather. Found a great stop over near Calais on the way back. I just camped in the wrong place and need to find somewhere more civilised for next year.
Anybody camped down at Arnage or Mulsanne can give a review?

I was actually surprised walking in and out with a rucksack that it was only searched once when I left the museum on Sunday - presumably to check for theft. I also saw a bunch of guys walking around with beer holding utility belts full of glass bottles who hadn't had any entry problems.
I felt security was too light to be honest.

Well, I thought it had all gone too smoothly. Just been e-mailed to say I need to return my tickets!

Because the website wouldn't apply my ACO discount back in October I paid full price while booking and then ACO reimbursed me after. Now it turns out I have to have different member specific tickets and my original ones have been cancelled.

How ridiculous just to keep the red tape flowing, what does it matter what the ticket says!!

I think there will be hybrids in the GT classes at least as more supercars go this way and the technology more commonplace.

Sporting motoring in general will surely follow the path of the horse and rider and be more and more for a select few eccentrics and nostalgic connoisseurs. Eventually human drivers will be deemed unsafe on public roads and banned along with internal combustion engines.

Here's hoping alternative fuels can save the IC engine so those that love the growl of many contained explosions can still be thrilled by their passing at speed. We just need an engine that emits Chanel No.5 as a by product or gallons of Single Malt.

After a quick e-mail on the 25th to complain about not being able to apply member discount when booking I am pleased to say Ive now received an appropriate rebate, quite speedy for the ACO!

Still missed out on ACO Grandstand tickets though :-/

Same here, have been able to purchase tickets but only at the full rate was unable to select the discounted option despite it saying "Your and ACO Member" at the top of the screen.
Also couldn't access tribune tickets in the ACO stands.

At least it didn't crash on me!
10  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Silverstone 6 Hours on: March 17, 2016, 12:46:18 pm
Hi, I'm going to Silverstone 6 hours WEC for the first time this year, just wondered if anyone had any experience to share? I'm unsure whether its worth getting a camping pass to stay on site (I have an old camper) or just park as normal and stay at a friends. I like the idea of having the camper handy for the occasional brew or retreat if the weather is shocking but I seem to remember the camping is a long way from the pits grandstands etc
11  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: motors tv chanel change on: March 17, 2016, 11:27:01 am

12  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Journey To Le Mans on: December 05, 2014, 03:00:04 pm
It wasnt the full film on ITV4 last night, they mentioned at the end it was a shortened version, probably missing about 45mins.
13  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: ACO website tickets on: December 03, 2014, 04:46:33 pm
Anybody heard anymore since the "...according to availability" e-mail?

I can buy tickets as a non ACO member (if i wanted) but still cant log in as a member on the ticket site. Curiously I can (and always have been able to) log in snd use the clothing and memorabilia parts of the site :-/
14  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: ACO website tickets on: November 26, 2014, 01:20:20 pm
Well, I'm still unable to log in after 24 hours of trying! Doesnt recognise my password even after renewing it and when e-mailing have been told my e-mail cannot be processed and must use the website :-(
15  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Campsite Theft - BE AWARE !!! on: June 18, 2007, 02:22:47 pm
Sadly, the rifling of the front of tents is a common practice at festivals and some car shows I go to which tend to have a "younger" crowd. The standard thieves response if challenged is "shorry mate, bit pissed - thought it was my mates tent".

The safest plan is to have everything valuable in the car and sleep with the keys under your pillow/in your sleeping bag :-/

I can cheerfully report however, that one individual recently discovered doing the rounds at Santa Pod last year was soundly giving an arse kicking before authorities arrived  Grin
