Title: Future GT1 entries Post by: Barry on November 26, 2009, 12:12:59 pm This was taken from an ACO press release.
Anybody got any ideas which manufacturers and which cars? 'Those cars eligible for the new GT 1 World Championship will be accepted to race in the 24 Heures du Mans and in the Le Mans Series in 2010. Already, three constructors have written to the ACO, confirming their intention to be present at the next season with cars until now never seen at Le Mans. ' Nissan 350z Ford GT Are 2 the third could be Jagaur XK8 The 350Z is a GT4 car, and as far as I know there are now plans at the ACO to run GT4 just yet! I presume you meant the GT-R? Not so sure about the Jag, as far as I know there isn't a GT1 version around anywhere. There's a GT2 version in the States and a GT3 version in Europe though. Sorry the GTr and 350z, look pretty similler ACO GT1 rules no longer exist I think. It will be a cold day in Hell when the ACO let the MC12 race I think. Maybe a bit hopeful about the Jag, but it was talked about and there is space in the FIA series vvvvvvvvvv Title: Re: Future GT1 entries Post by: jpchenet on November 26, 2009, 06:16:33 pm Those in the know say that the ACO WILL be allowing the MC-12 to run at Le Mans and in the ALMS
Title: Re: Future GT1 entries Post by: Nordic on November 26, 2009, 06:29:42 pm Never say never I suppose and it does have an auto entry but The ACO have always been very against the car, I expect it will depend on the quality of the other cars entered.
But I would rather something a bit more modern was given the chance tbh, i think its time to move on from the old GT1. In fact, read here: - http://www.planetlemans.com/2009/11/19/the-2010-le-mans-24-hours-preselections/ *Second from bottom in LMGT1* Paul Title: Re: Future GT1 entries Post by: Nordic on November 27, 2009, 08:45:39 am The MC12 has been on the list every year it has won the FIA GT series.
This year could be different as the ACO does not have its own GT rules any longer and has instead excepted the new FIA cars. Due to a lack of support/new cars the MC12 has been given a wavier to run again, but with restrictions. However pretty certain the Aucua P2 car will be racing this year. On UK team now has one and Highcroft are also talking up the chances of them coming over. Title: Re: Future GT1 entries Post by: Nordic on December 31, 2009, 05:09:41 pm Well it wont be the gigawave Nissan on the grid at Le Mans as the team seems to have shut down.
Shame, but there is still a swiss team running them and I expect they should be some takers to run the other 2 Nissans in the FIA series. Gigawave's replacement has been found, SUMO power. Not a name I have heard before but it looks like ADR are part of the same group. |
