Does anyone have any experience of taking a largish motorhome onto one of the ACO standard pitches? The official line is that it must be less than 7m but I’d like to know what actually happens in practice. My dilemma is that I have a 7.5m vehicle, slightly oversize but I’ll have two pitches. Will they stop me on the gate and get out the tape measure?! Or will common sense prevail and I will be allowed to park the motor across my two pitches.

I doubt you will have a problem. We take a 10 meter motorhome and have 6 tickers. Our dilemma is usually what orientation the 6 tickets are to each other. They have never measured the camper but as long as you have the two tickets with you I can't see you having any problems.

Cheers Vegas. I was hoping somebody would say that :) Just never know what the guys on the gate will be like.

The only problem I see is that you might not get 2 adjacent pitches, especially if they screw up the numbering, and your two pitches only meet at a corner.
Haing said that, these little problems have a habit of resolving themselves, especially if the motorhome has some chilled ones in the fridge

In my experience gormless prats, a few years ago one told me I had to move my tent 'cos my car was supposed to be parked where the tent was. He decided to go and annoy someone else when he realised I had a large mallet in my hand, and was looking slightly annoyed by his suggestion.

That's one of the funniest things I've ever read. You have been to Le Mans right?

I normaly take a 6.5m motorhome with a 5m car trailer and so far I've had no problem, like you I buy two pitches and treat them as one.
