That's small, I can hardly read it. I need to adjust my eyes, wait :o
-
I've heard this through a couple of sources now.
Here's Hoping!!!!!!
-
Obviously Ford are trying to get back to motorsport a little more succesfully than F1 , which is cr@p and they are cr@p
-
Hang on Robbo ,They pay Brian(liverpool boys) wages!!

Which is why their crap.

Great news!! Although this has been mooted on and off for several years with a variety of backers, but this one sounds the best hope yet. Time to dust off those Union Flags (cue "Jack" argument/discussion again) and shorts again!!
-
I suppose as Bentley won't be back, the mysterious men at the top have decided that the Brits will need another team to cheer for and hence - Aston Martin.

Sounds like a top idea to me ;D

I have a friend of a friend who works for AM. I'll see if he knows anything. He's a guy who's been asked.... "Can you get some guys together to drive 5 Vantages down to Italy for a photo shoot and then drive them back?" He was also involved in the arrangments for the recent Bond film. It's a tough job...etc.
-
A couple of our little MB groupette do a similar job for Bentley and did all sorts of testing on the Continental GT!!
Note to self: GET A BETTER JOB!!!!
-

Excellent. Tony and his pals need a project to divert the attention of the public away from the current political situation.
(steps down from soap box and passes load hailer ;D)

...only under private finance I suspect...

Sounds like an excellent way to revive the nationalised car industry. Remember all those lovely cars made by Leyland :P

Interestingly, the root of the Leyland name can be traced back to cars such as the Leyland-Thomas built by Parry Thomas to roar around the banked circuit of Brooklands in the '20s.
So not such a bad idea after all.
However, somehow I can't quite picture a crowd of Brits cheering for a Leyland at Le Mans though.

Nice piece of history thee Steve, but I rekon we'd be better off cheering for Zarse's Commer :o
-
Another good picture of a Leyland on the Members Banking.
Wonderful picture Steve.. Where did you get it?

How about pulling the Commer's body off and dropping it on a custom chassis / engine combination to produce something a bit like the Cosworth Transit or the Williams Renault Espace.
We could enter a Zarse Zytek Commer for Le Mans and, in their ignorance, the ACO may give us an entry.
(Or is this all wishfull thinking????) ;D

That sounds wonderful, and is probably more realistic than Andy's thoughts of puting a V8 into the existing chasis. It could become..........the Club Arnarge, Zarse Commer Special...............or something like that ::)
-
Right, I'll get my spanners and cutting gear ready.........
Andy Z, over to you ;D
-
Dusting off the overalls as we speak (well almost) ;)

I would think it is a relatively straightforward job to build some sort of Muscle Commer, tho personally not to sure where to start.
Plenty of room in wheelarches for lowering and widening the track. Front suspension is off a Humber car and is quite sophisticated. Rear end is plain old leaf springs and lever arm dampers. I was having a poke around on saturday and there is now no oil in any of the shock absorbers, so i will need to do something before the next MOT. I would also be concerned by the braking power, the minimum would be to add a servo.
V8 as per previous posts, there is plenty of room etc but I doubt the axle would handle the power for very long.
Paint scheme, I liked the earlier suggestion of Racing for Holland. I would prefer tho Racing For Holland and Barrett, a sort of organic wholemeal Commer.

This thing could handle like a rice pudding on jelly :o

Following e-mail reply just received from Aston Martin's public relations office:
"Thank you for your recent email. Aston Martin has made no secret of the fact that we would like to have the marque racing again, but we need to find the correct partner. Currently we are still investigating what directions are possible and no decision has yet been reached."
Doesn't sound like next year, but 2005? ;D
