Hi all,
Most of you already know that Club Arnage publishes an annual free guide to the 24h of Le Mans, the last editions can still be downloaded at http://www.clubarnage.com/caguide/download.html.
In the past there were not only CA members who contributed to this guide, but also many people from other LM-related forums like Ten-Tenths, Pistonheads and Beermountain, and many of you supplied valuable information and pictures. All this information was merged manually into Word documents by me, forwarded then to a proofreader – meanwhile new information came up … , so I had to merge it again, send it out for proofreading again , meanwhile I had a beer or 2 or 3 and some files got lost – and so on – ;D you can imagine that this was not very easy to co-ordinate and a very error-prone procedure.
To make the editing process easier, we will try a new approach for the 2010 Guide. We have installed a Club Arnage Le Mans Wiki at www.clubarnage.com/wiki - enabling anybody to edit the guide directly. About 2 weeks prior to the race I will take the contents from the Wiki and generate the annual CA Guide to the 24h of Le Mans ready for download from it – that’s the plan.
To edit the Wiki, you need to become a CA member first a painless procedure which takes just a few minutes - -that's if you aren't a member already! However, If you don’t want to become a CA member or you don’t feel comfortable editing this Wiki by yourself, you are still welcome to send your contributions and suggestions by email to president@lemanszone.de - I will take care of it.
I hope I have encouraged you to share your know-how with all the other Le Mans fans.
Cheers

Nice ;D If you're in need of pictures, just give me a shout !

Wow, this sounds like a good idea / feature.
Thank you for setting it up.

To make life a little easier for everyone I've added a "wiki" button the main button bar above. You will note also that I added an ACO button too.

Wow, just a couple of hours online and we already have the first contribution. Thanks to dukla2000 for updating the Arnage campsite section!
Did I mention that every contributor will get a mention in the "hall of fame" of the next CA-Guide?

Blimey Tom that were quick!
Werner, again another brilliant idea
Thanks
-
That sounds a good idea. Should help ensure a dynamic guide just as long as the nutters keep away and werner keeps a firm grasp on the edit button!!

Blimey Tom that were quick!
Not really we've been working on this since last October. (and talking about it since two years ago.)
Though things have been a bit hectic this last week.
Werner, again another brilliant idea
Sounds like you owe him a beer Bill.

What a great idea, well done guys

Indeed, I spotted that last night and wondered how long it had been there without me noticing.

Where are you looking, is there a page I have never seen?
-
Top of the home page near the log in and search buttons
-
It should be on every page actually.
-
I must admit I had a job finding it. The 'button' is actually a tab under the scrolling message.
Well done guys, good idea.

All the scrutineering stuff is wrong now as the thing is a) moving home and b) starting on Sunday - probably. But what it will actually be like is anybody's guess. A nightmare, I suspect. ::) I'll have a go at it when I'm not being tortured by a physio and when more facts are available... but how close to the truth the guide can come I don't know.

Hi Deb,
first of all I hope you're not getting too much tortured by your physio and that things are going according to plan now...
Great if you would have a look at the scrutineering stuff. With all the last minute changes by the ACO it is difficult to come always 100% close to the truth - but I don't care really. In the past all of us have worked on a "get as far as we can" bases and the result was always good.

Hi Werner,
Just had a look at the marshals info and there doesn't appear to be a yellow flag !!
Just thought I'd mention it in case there's a reason ?
Cheers, Gordon.

Hi Gordon,
hard to beleave, but the yellow flag is actually - simply forgotten! Well, at least after 3 years someone realized this ;D, this is missing since the 2007 edition of the CA Guide.
Thanks, I'll add it

Werner,
Looks as though the funfair has moved, so might be worth while updating the section.

Looks as though the funfair has moved,
Hooray.
There was never space behind the Ford stand, and the towers of the bungee jump ride cast long shadows that ruined several of my photos.
Lets hope they reverse a few more of their dumb decisions
