Title: Any meets arranged for the Classic?
Post by: Martini...LB on June 23, 2010, 11:35:57 pm
Hi
Just wondered if anyone was thinking of arranging a meet at the Classic.
I do not think there are too many of the CA group going but it might be good to catch up.
If not I will probably be at my tent most of the time... NO I WON'T... because this is the new me, I will be out for at least four (one) hours a day mooching around. Can't wait for the excitement of the fair and the reasonably priced souvenirs along with the ever so cheap trackside food and beer!!! Plus the fact I am in France from the Monday night and cannot get into the campsite until thursday afternoon, who the hell in my group organised this, ok it was me but I am quite happy to tootle around France for a few days.

I'll be staying off camp but the frogeye (and I) should be situated with Amicale Spridget (Midgets & Sprites) on the Bugatti circuit.

Anybody up for a drink at the Courbe bar Saturday evening as we did last time?

I don't know if it was just because we were late but there didn't seem to be many people at the CA meet during the race proper - maybe the Porsche curves were a bit too far in the end?

Martini et Al

We'll be on Bleu Nord from late thurs pm - look out for the plus two, should be with a mustang, mini, 911, Mx5 and a merc.  Please drop by and bring the rest of the LB crew - perhaps walk out to the porsche curves together or you can stay for a beer or three - we wont have any chilled and on tap this time though

Dave

A CA meeting at the LM Classic would be great. I follow termie's sugegstion - Let's say 8.00 pm outside the Courbes bar at the track fence? Wear CA - Shirts?

Cheers

Werner

Sounds like a great idea.

I think the bulk of the CAer's are camped within a couple of hundred yards of each other on MB.
We will have a CA flag flying, it will be like the old days, before a lot of us camped next to each other.

Friday night quallies at Arnage corner has become a recent classic tradition. We usually arrive around 9-10pm. IIRC there is a beer et frites et jambon stall down there for the classic.

That said, I'm easy.

Does the bus run on Friday or Saturday evening/night?

My major problem with anything long-distance like Arnage is that if there is not much enthusiasm for it on  the day then it's a long way to go if it turns out to be a damp squib.

We trogged out to the Porsche curves (after I had persuaded a reluctant Mr T that he didn't want to go to bed) in the wee small hours of Sunday during the race, only to find hardly anybody had bothered - except that Paddy had seemed to have gone to a great deal of trouble manufacturing a special mobile bar!  Happily we were camped on MB so at least didn't have far to go to our pits.  The advantage of the Courbe, imo, is that if nobody turns up then at least you don't miss any action or take ages getting there (a major consideration in a wheelchair!)

This may seem like heresy here (ducks) but there is a meet at Mulsanne on the Friday afternoon I've arranged for Pistonheads. Now frankly I don't give a damn who is there - for me it is a meeting of petrolheads, no more. BBQ, plenty of beer, and I reckon we'll be about 150 there. Why not join us? It's just a moment to see cars, to enjoy meeting people, to veg out, to have a beer, to just enjoy life with fellow minded people. Programme your abacus for the Mulsanne church and you'll find us. The more the merrier!

Is that similar to what you did at Mulsanne in 2009?

The Courbes Bar sounds good to me. Only CA shirt I have is one of the ones I produced for Dave with the original logo in 1998!! Failing that it will be the blue and orange jobbie in my avatar pic  ;D

Although I might be distracted by what is on track  ;) Ooh just checked and grid 6 is running from 8 to 9.20 .. Will shoot from Dunlop Chicane and I'll be there right after that, so about 9.30!

Yup, the same but I hope to have a different crowd for the Classic. More car minded than water pistol minded if you get my drift. If it isn't a success then it will die a death. I only want proper people with proper ideas and possibly proper cars. - no riffraff. The event at Mulsanne for the 24 Hours is now officially dead due to the attitude of the town hall.

Not sure I can make that, single occupant, car driver, drinker, unfortunately they do not mix. PLUS I will have to wait for my homies to turn up from 'ooop north'

I am excited, though I am not sure if is the racing or seeing the buddies again, sorry to embarrass you Si  :-[

Good that you have it sorted at last, the pics I've deen elsewhere are amazing an absolute credit to you well done.
The more I read about the classic the more I realise that I need to go !! I'll have to give it some serious thought and either scrounge a lift or say sod it and just load all the gear up and get on the road !!Do the camping pitches on MB get sold out or can you get one on the Thursday ?

If in doubt, go to the Classic site and print off the entry list.
Sit with a cold beer and read.
Wipe drool off entry list.

Buy tickets and beg time off work. ;D
