I will be at the Spa 24 hour race this year.
When: Sat morning early
Were: sleeping in my car or tent on a parking lot, hopefully P3
Who else is making the trip? Maybe we can have a CA gathering in the normal place!
-
One day for sure, but not this year. :-\
-
Can't make "the normal place" Roy because I can't get up that hill yet. However, we will be there. Arriving Monday morning and staying the week in Malmedy to make a proper holiday of it.

I am sure that we could arrange for you to get to the top Termie, getting you back down after a couple cold ones might be the bigger obstacle ;D

I'll be there arriving shortly before the start. How about the paddok bar ?
-
Last year we met Doris in the bar behind the old startline grandstand. Still get a good view of the circuit from there and you don't need to pay extra (as you do for the paddock) either.

Talking of Spa, I see that they are now selling camping tickets on line:

Great spot to camp too, imo.

That bar is fine with me.

That's up the hill at Les Combes. That's my preferred camping although there are no showers or toilets. As far as I remember it was cheaper than 30 Euros last year, though.

You do however have to be careful balancing the table when someone gets up to get more beer from the bar. ;D

One top tip: Some TOTAL fuel stations in Belgium have free entry tickets available at the moment which will save you € 25 at the gate. I got three so have two to give away. These are entry tickets only, so no paddock or parking.
-
D*mn - already paid for ours!
Setting off Monday morning so just in case I don't get back on here much before we leave, shall we say 8pm?
Does anybody know if the cars will go into Spa again this year on the Wednesday? Last year this got cancelled because of a music festival.
-
Yes, the convoy will take place on Wednesday, see here http://www.spa-francorchamps.be/en/news.php?id=23 (http://www.spa-francorchamps.be/en/news.php?id=23).
I put that on my schedule now: 20:00 on Saturday at the bar behind the old grand stand.
Have a good trip and enjoy the convoy.

Glad somebody's on the ball -will be outside the bar in Francorchamps Wednesday - still one of the great moments in motorsport imo, even if not actually circuit-side.
See you Sat if not before.

Passed today for the practice and qualifying sessions ... bit boring to be honest :-\.
I'll be back on Saturday, probably not before 8-8.30 pm, we're heading to the 'Ring first for the 6h VLN race.

From what I saw on the web, quite an interesting finish, the leading 79 BMW going off in the last few minutes leaving a Porsche 1-2 with the 79 BMW 3rd.
Mr Dumas following on from his Le Mans victory taking the chequered flag.

Yeah, that was quite disappointing for BMW which dominated the race. Apparently, the "Dirk" had a suspension failure which caused the off. It's a 24h race and these things happen. Congratulations to BMS !!! That was the second 24H podium for Dumas and Henzler after LM this year, very well done. Despite the free tickets (I was equipped with 5 tickets and when approaching the gate was still offered tickets at a "special € 5,- off the normal ticket price" by the one and the other) there was less crowd than last year. I guess this was due to the lack of GT1 cars which are far more spectacular than GT2, 3 and N. Hopefully, Ratel sees this and acts accordingly. The frequent rain showers made it worthwhile, though.
