For those of you wanting to book, Brittany has opened up booking for June next year on some of its routes.
Caen and St Malo open.
Cherbourg not yet.
-
Noticed LD Lines have prices now, but no offers yet.
need to keep an eye out for them
-
BF have just changed their ships around. They have taken on teh Portsmouth - Bilbao route and using the same ship that was doing the Cherbourg sailing - Cap Finisite. Maybe thats why.
I use LD a few times a year for bike trips and have found as they are getting bigger the prices are coming more in line with Brittany Ferries now.

I'm afraid you're right. Even their Ramsgate crossing is expensive now.
Looks like Norfolk Lines for me, but they're now called DFDS, and have offers ;)
Brittany want nearly £500 with the caravan

Just booked for next year, Eurotunnel on wednesday back sunday night £84, but using Tesco vouchers so actually works out at £24 can't complain.

OK - one for that Salty Sea Dog - Steve Brown,
Looking on the LD Lines web site and a simple question - What happened to the boat "NORMAN ARROW", it was new 2years ago, can't have sunk already?

They probably leased it, and the lease has run out.
The ferry world seems very incestuous, it's probably the Brittany or Condor Arrow this year.

She didn't last long on the Dover / Boulogne route.
Anyway, the Arrow is 'broken' follwoing an accident in August and is undergoing repair.

Funny - lasted less than a year on Dover/Boulogne route, went on it last year - really was a spanking new shinny boat.
And odd bit travel all the way over from Hobart, Tasmania where it was built and crashes in Le Harve!
Wonder when it will be back and which route or even which ferry company will run it. LD are due a big boat next year -Norman Leader (worth watching for offers).

That's over £70 less than I paid in 2010
I was seriously thinking about the Tunnel, but at that price I think I'll book on Brit Knee Ferries.

Assuming the Norman Arrow goes back in to service next year, it was designed with a huge lorry deck, so I'm sure a little caravan could fit in.

The Norman arrow finishes summer service now, and due on the le havre crossing from April i was told. ( went to the port on a job )
It DOES take big stuff, but they charge more for using the fast boat.
Be VERY careful with LD lines. They are starting to upset people. Miss a sailing, and thats it, no moveing the booking etc. I was told by a manager " its in our terms and conditions" . The poor man i was trying to help limped off back home as he couldnt afford to buy another trip !!
Shame really.
As for Poole Cherbourg - We found it much cheaper than Portsmouth, by nearly £200 per car a few years back . .
But...
Portsmouth's new ferry termianal should be open by next June . . bigger bar, more parking . . .

LDLines will know in the next couple of weeks whether or not the Norman Arrow will return to the Portsmouth-Le Havre route next Summer. No decision has yet been made.
