Title: Exclusive CA private campsite...
Post by: Gilles on October 11, 2003, 12:14:15 am
:D Good news for everyone interested in a CA campsite  :D

I may have the opportunity of a private campsite, with electricity, loos, showers,... just next to the Technoparc.

This campsite will be reservde for CA members, without any need of an ACO camping ticket and we can also have a shuttle service from the campsite to the general entrance (but it's not really useful)

Who are interested ?

I really need this little market study to discuss with the owner the price...
... for MB tickets we needed around 300 tickets, but how many people are interested in this new location?

Smokie, the other question is does it have it's own bog women as Mark would not be to happy if there was no one to take the p#ss out of. forgive the pun.
Brian.

Yes.

The trek to the village is about the same as walking up from MB,so we would be in for three passes.......subject to price...of course

As Wishy says, it depends on price. But we would probably take three or four passes.

Dependant on weather or not i get my Blue tickets and the price. If a good price i would look at 4 tickets.

I gonna meet the owner of the field this week so I will be able to give you some price indications this week.

The target is to be a little cheaper than the ACO ie. lower than 30 euros.

The field may be 40 000 mē... I let you imagine the number of pitches.

BTW I still study the opportunity of an ice maker, which could be a great innovation for the 2004 race week.

Gilles

Approximately where is this hallowed "champs" located?

Sounds intresting, dependat on price, if it is close to "Tecnopark" wich were we were last year (its to not to bad a spot) its a bit of a hike to the village tho. How will we stop non CA ticket holders getting on? But if it is a go we could be up for 5/6 passes

Nice idea still Gilles, but if we have electric on the site for everyone then fridges/freezers may be easier??

Clamps may be an option. Or we could just work out a rota for CA members to continueously stimulate you. A cold beer should work!!  ;)

Guys. I know this thread is for our "campsite",however I see the question of ice has appeared yet again.

Our laddo "Fat Boy" has said that for next year he will bring an ice maker and also a portable chiller which he reckons he will (I was going to say "erect"on site),but I think" put up" in this case is better....if you know what I mean.

So we could have ice and cool storage for the weekend for anybody who wants to keep"Kool".

Gilles,

Sounds good - would be very interested in 4-5 camping places if the facilities are good and the price is right.

I need an official position and engagement of CA officials, before to start any negociation.

The global cost of the campsite with the facilities requires 300 camping passes at 100 euros or 600 passes at 50 euros each a,d I'm pretty not sure we're able to book so much camping tickets !!!  ???

I'm pretty sure you will not be able to find 300 buyers here at that price.

The problem with the CA campsite idea (even in Maison Blanche) is that many of the people who might be interested will not appear on the forum until much nearer the time. So you can't get enough commitment early enough.

You see, about next March/April some of the regulars will come back to see if their camping is all sorted out for them.

Also despite the fact that many people here are good"virtual" friends, they probably have preferred campsites which they have been using for many years, and would not necessarily want to go somewhere else. That obviously won't prevent CA get-togethers, but again means that there are not enough interested parties to sell the volumes you need, Gilles.

I requested 300 MB tickets based on peoples responses soon after the race, but with hindsight I would think I'd have difficulty getting rid of that many. However, I am still awaiting an answer from the ACO when they decide what (if any) we can have.

Smokie , I would love to have MB spaces and i know lots of people who dont post here but would buy them .

I put MB down as my first choise , then Bleu . As its a top spot for me. I agree that i probably wouldnt change unless the new site was nearer than MB or Bleu .

If you get the MB spaces i would have 4 now and pay cash. But i dont reckon they will do it.

Maybe we should visit them mob-handed in November and persuade them...

OK Let down for 2004  :(

Maybe we can have an hospitality tent in the village...

... which price are CA members able to pay to have a private tent with hospitality and a buffet (I may obtain a good view along the track for this CA extra ticket) ?

Dependent on th location of this campsite I would imagine that it could be sold via the other car clubs.  One might even be able to persuade one or more of the UK based tour operators to take space in it.

In fact if one could do that they could provide a star guest for the rest of us to hear!

Personally I suspect most people wpuld want to investigate the campsite location first, but that of course defeatss the purpose!

Ask Smokie for the location and description as he already visited the fiel during the 1000 kms.

I did visit it, with Gilles and Grand Fromage, who took a few snaps.

To get the site:

Go out of Maison Blanche and turn left towards the crossroads (now a roundabout). At the crossroads, turn left to go under the track (as though you are going to Beasejour). Carry on under the track, a short while after going under the bridge the field is on the right.

My own opinion, honestly, and not wanting to upset Gilles etc...

1) It would be a bit of a trek to get anywhere
2) Most people already know where they like camping, and also have already booked their tickets for 2004
3) It may be too expensive anyway, compared to ACO camping - but ACO has definitely gone up this year
4) We would probably not manage to get the number of people required to fill it and make it economically viable

On the plus side:
1) Gilles reckoned electricity, toilets/showers and all kinds of things (hospitality tents, minibus service to various places etc) might be possible
2) For those who do NOT have camping booked, it would be a godsend
3) You'd be camping with your mates from the CA website (or is that a negative??)

Anyway, I think Dave was going to post some of the pics, although the field is, at the mpment, just like a jungle. It's a good size btw, and although the road is usually inaccessible during the race, Gilles said that passes to get in and out wouldn't be a problem.

You can probably tell that I am sceptical about the idea. The rest of my group have very little to do with CA and go to see the race rather than socialise, and I really think the location would not be acceptable to them, compared to the convenience of Maison Blanche which they are used to. However, if it went ahead, I would do my best to persuade them to try it out.

Let's wait to see what Grand Fromage has to say...

I didnt enjoy Beausejour that much as the location was terrible really apart from the Porsche Curves.

And so , i probably wouldnt want the trek again , all my lot moaned. I prefer nearer to the main entreance / MB / Bleu , if possible.

Getting the cars out on some days was a real pain in the @rse

Thats my thought , if you wanted it , which you probably didnt.....
