Agreed, lets hope someone buys it.
Good job Morgan ignored certain management consultants advice, or I think they would have gone as well.
-
Lets hope that they do survive in some form or another, once upon a time Bristol wa a regular at lemans and they have always been a car for the real enthusiast.

Sad news. I've always had a secret hankering for a Bristol - quirky, individual styling and big thirsty engines - right up my straße.

You forgot to mention rampant rust, overheating and a wiffy musty interior
Still sad though.

Is that the car, or Steve?
Just asking...

Nice cars, but looking at the accounts they've been just about bust since 2008, and probably losing money for years. I would have thought that they would have gone to one of the larger firms of accountants to find a buyer, as there may be a lot of interest (and money) from abroad. It could be another TVR. ;D

I'm sorry for the few people who worked there (if there were any) but Bristol has meant little to me over the years. They might have made some nice stuff in the fifties etc but as long as I can remember the management were an arrogant pompous bunch of has-beens. Finest car in the world indeed, they made wilfully ugly out-dated over-priced heaps of rubbish driven by fey and pretentious people who wear mustard coloured corduroy trousers with a hanky sticking out of their cuffs.

I think two of the three relate to your tent Si ;D
I bet you can't wait to go camping again...

Camping sucks and is for poor people. I dont do camping. I pitch my tent, scowl at it, complain about it and then lay in it for a few hours, sleepless and full of bitter regret.
I hate it, but if it means i get to spend time with my chums on MB then i will put up with it for a few days a year. Must stop now, i'm coming out in hives just thinking about it.

it would be funny if they were brought by the russians or septics.then after they paid their 20 quid they found out they owned a sh*t city in west england. almost in wales.

Speaking from personal experience I think three out of three relate to Dr S's old Alfa - and that was before we even left Barnsley!

It's also worth noting that designer Malcolm Sayer learnt much of his trade at Bristol and brought aircraft design principles into car design. It was Malcolm Sayer who brought us the Jaguar XK series, the and D Type racers, the E Type road car and the XJ13 prototype.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr >:(
That is so not the case. It never overheated, didn't smell and had no rust by the time I finished with it.
I'm very, very hurt. :'(
Extra washing up for you now Francis! :police:

Extra washing up for you now Francies! :police:
With all this washing up being threatened, are we taking along a fully equipped kitchen brigade this year? My recollection is that Team LB mostly ate bread n rillette straight out of the packaging?

P.S. Must remember to put some Crabbies on the provisions list.

The Bristol Fighter was suprising well developed and did a load of miles at the ring. The Viper engine was as reliable as the moon but the biggest problem was their refusal to deal with the UK motoring press.
That said shaping aluminium body panels with an ugly stick was probably a bad idea...

Some Sebring Heritage.

Its a real shame about Bristol Cars, while it was under Tony Crook ownership it was a truely british company and much misunderstood. Crook did not give press interviews as he was not interested in what the press had to say about his cars he believed that they spoke volumes on their own ( By todays standards this is fairly detrimental to a companys Future ). He sold half of Bristol in 1997 by 2001 he had sold the other half to the same company, but he stayed on till 2008 as the managing director. As you can see from the state of the company his departure from it in 2008 can be seen as the down turn in its fortunes. T Crook is a British legend and someone who is quintessently British and a much under estimated racing driver with 370 placed finishes under his belt. I believe 22 people have lost their jobs so far, a small concern by todays standards but a real shame as far as British car's are concerned.
