Title: Rules regarding what can be taken "into" the stands Post by: SuperMacGuy on May 30, 2011, 05:25:53 am Are there rules for what can be taken into the official seating areas? Such as, no glass containers, no back packs, no duffle bags over a certain size, etc? I have tickets for Tribune Michelin, and do not want to be turned away if we bring prohibited items. I did not see any sort of "rules of the track" on the LM.org website. At Watkins Glen in the US, you can have whatever items in your camping area, but there is a "security check" when you go into the grandstands and they were quite strict.

Most of the people at the entrance are "casuals" who simply check tickets, and that's it. Enjoy! It's not like in the States where you can only bring one cooler bag of a certain maximum size, and a clear backpack. No checkpoints on the grandstands, only at the entrance where your ticket is scanned.
I've always got quite a large backpack with photo gear with me, an extra lens round my neck, monopod ... never had any problems with it. First time I went to Daytona with all that gear, I had a discussion of 20 minutes at the gate of the grandstand to get in with it (and was walking around with a clear backpack the next day). They would never ban glass, that would mean putting wine in plastic bottles :o Title: Re: Rules regarding what can be taken "into" the stands Post by: gt6 on May 31, 2011, 10:10:54 am One year they banned any glass on the wednesday night, checking everyone as they went in, we had to drink are supplies and ditch the bottles before we went in.
The next day no restrictions and nothing during the race. |
