Does anybody know (Gilles perhaps, me 'ol monsieur?) if there's live coverage on french tv of the race? Contemplating rigging something together to while away the small hours on Saturday. I think ripping the sky dish off the wall for the weekend may be taking things a bit far, but a tv of some form isn't out of the question.
Cheers.

Freddie - My folks live near Le Mans and usually tape some stuff off the box thoughout the weekend that we take a peek at on Sunday night - but I'm usually so knackered by then and firing down my old man's horrible red local vino that I can't remember if it's off Sky or local - Gilles?

>:( TV coverage by local TV is quite poor :'(
The most you'll be able to see, if it's like last year, it's the 2 first and the 2 last hours of the race on France 2, th public french TV.
What is more nice to see the race on Tv is to be seat in front of an ACO giant screen with some mates...
... or if your'e an ACO member on the old museum, where you can be cut a little of the sound and where you can have a rest.

Don't forget you need a French TV also, with a UK one you can only get sound!!

There is usually a large amount of coverage on EuroSport.
Available on still on Analog I think (Old sky box and dish) and on Sky Digital (Old sky dish with new LNB and digi box from home).

Am I right in thinking that you don't need a subscription for Eurosport??
So if I can find my old analogue decoder, I know I've got an old satelite disk in the garage, abit of cable, a compass, and we're laughing!!

EuroSport on analog is free, but not on digital.
Check out this web page for details http://www.ses-astra.com/tv-radio/guide/lineup/markets/F_analogfree.htm (http://www.ses-astra.com/tv-radio/guide/lineup/markets/F_analogfree.htm)
Much more Satellite info available at http://www.beermountain.com/satellite_tv.htm (http://www.beermountain.com/satellite_tv.htm), which I helped write after three years of taking a satellite dish and TV to Le Mans.

And a fine web site it is too. Along with CA, it gave me lots of help for my first trip down two years ago. I've already swapped email with Mr toad and I believe we are on the same ferry as you, Portsmouth - Caen Wed 11th 22.30?? We're The Winebenders!

I'm not actually part of Mr Toads group.
I found his web site when looking into names for our group (not going this year) and found he had already got the one we wanted and deserved the most (see my picture to the left).
I also advised Mr Toad on how to build a beer mountain as large as the one pictured, instruction on his site.
-
Humble apologies!! It truely is an impressive Beermountain.
Assuming I can find the decoder, which site are you on this year?? We may need to ply you with beer for your assistance to help set up our dish!!
