Anybody planning on coming over for this?
-
Spa 24 hours - is that "a day at a health club"?
-
Sort of!
-
yup, just tryin to sort it out now, question will it be ok to kip in the back of my escort van in the carpark as I just dont fancy tenting it, have never been before so dont know the lie of the land, are the car parks far from the circuit, which carpark is best, closest, water, toilets etc? cheers

Sleeping in the back of your car would be fine. Most people there seem to sleep in their car van or just put a tent next to it. (unless you are Dutch, Drunk, remember where your car keys are and where you put you tent!)
I think it is P3 where you should head but basically after leaving Francorchamps village, go past the fuel garage on your right, take the Left at the roundabout and follow the road, Take the right to the main car park. Don't think it is the first turning but I know it is tarmac and usually signposted media etc.
Hope to make it myself but looking unlikely now. Enjoy it, one not to be missed.

Many thanks bud, missed Le mans this year been regreting it ever since, any idea of driving time from Calais to Spa,will be on route on the fri pm so expecting hold ups around Bruxelles and any other tips you can think of cheers

I have heard of roadworks around Brussels down to two lanes. I would recon on between 3.5 and 4 hours would be a safe bet on Friday evening. I have done it in 2.5 hours though.
Use a Sat Nav and check traffic as much as you can. Hold ups in Belgium can be avoided usually and save many hours.
-
Cool, shame I cant get there a bit earlier cos hate rushing and chasing the clock cheers
-
The Race doesnt start until 4pm on Saturday so I am sure you will be fine.
-
Yeah for sure but would like to chill out and check out the track and stuff, i suppose the usual retail stuff/food is plentifull and not too far away?
-
Traffic around Brussels could be a mess, but on Saturday it should be ok. Another route is going through Antwerp, take the E313 direction Hasselt-Liege, and then get onto the E42 direction Verviers-Spa.
I'll get to the 'Ring first for a VLN race (Saturday 12-4 pm) and head onto Spa afterwards, should arrive there around 5.30 or 6. Not sure to stay overnight.

Not sure about P3 though Rick! Usually the 24 hours is busy by that time, but P4 is just across the road from P3. It has a few advantages, it is reasonable flat and more spacious. Other then that it should be fine. I am planning on getting there friday morning or sat morning.

Doesn't look good from work money prospective. Chris knows that!
Major installation going on at the moment that I am running.
-
Is that the job you told me about at LM?
-
Yep, that one, starts next week on Thursday then carry's on until November any time off is difficult.
-
Well, then the money situation is sorted!
-

Have a great time Randy, hopefully have as much fun as I had at Nurburgring, though I suspect the German pop band with the singer with magnificent huge tits ;)won't be at Spa. Your loss, but a great memory for me every time I hear 99 Red Baloons from now on. ;D

I told Deb you will be there, and she is now doubly sorry to be missing the event this year! You will have a great time at one of the world's most spectacular circuits - but mind the weather! Make sure you walk round the perimeter path at least as far as the Bus Stop, and up the Kemal Straight to Les Combes - the views across the circuit are breathtaking! Take in Pouen if you can, too, as it's a fierce 180-ish degrees downhill! Really sorry to be missing it - but hope Deb will be well-patched up in time for 2012!
-

-
Me too!!
-
CA meeting anywhere ? ;D
-
Usually saturday evening top of Eau Rouge, there is a bar there. I'll be in Enkhuizen that evening. :'(
-
Yep, CA meet at l'eau rouge bar, lets say about 8 pm
-
Can we make this later?
I have found at Le Mans 8pm is to soon after the start to have looked around and had dinner.
Also the bar is lit at night so if we say meet at 1030 we can all watch night racing from there.
Leaves more time to look around in daylight. Light down at Poeun (sp) is great around 9pm. (Provided it is not raining)

Bit later than 8pm would be better indeed, gives you more time to walk around after the first hours of the race.
Guess you mean Pouhon ;D. Dusk at the Raidillion isn't bad either, even in the rain ...

I really do want to get to this sometime... never seem to get myself organised. >:(
F
P.S. Great photo Doc.
-
Whatever time we agree upon is fine with me!
-
Need to get me a map of the official website from the trackside.
.
-
Is Randy on the ground over there yet? he left this am
-Lee
-
Ok so the Eau rouge bar will dig out a CA t-shirt, so is anyone camping on site or are you all in b+b/hotels? does anyone know if there are showers or any taps on site?
Chris

He left this PM. Arrives 8AM local!
-
Alibongo,
We are all hopefully camping in car park 3 with the Dutchies, which is close to the showers and toilets and is within spitting distance of the paddocck and Eau Rouge :)
Rick,Peter,Randy,Chris,Neil and I should arrive at around 2pm provided the Border Agency allow Randy out of the country ;D
Andy
-
When you get there, no Dutchies will be there yet. Make sure you get plenty of space for extra vehicles! I will get there roughly around 5.30 pm thursday, but have to go back after qualifying, cause I need to work the next day. I will return on Sat. morning, so if I need to pick stuff up, let me know!
-
Whatever time we agree upon is fine with me!
9 or 9.30 pm maybe ?
-
I will be there from 10.30 onwards, basically once its dark.
-
10:30 ish then! Wear your CA gear to make it look official ;D
-
If I can find it will be there ;D
-
It's not hard to find really ::)

Thanks for the link. This is the first year in several that termietermite & I have not been present at Spa for this excellent race. I hope CA-ers have a great time!
-
We had a good time, sorry you couldn't be there for the race. Rick and his brother made good use of your tickets, no ID checked or whatsoever! Hope Deb will have a speedy recovery.
-
Anybody have a light ?

;D
Passed the bar at the top of Eau Rouge Saturday 'round 10.30 but didn't spot anyone from CA :( (or I was at a wrong place)
-
Most of them had passed out at the campsite by that time. Vegas and I did make it up there eventually, but did not stay long as we had gotten down to the paddock to party in the bar on top of the pit building!
-
Made back 3:00am this morning after doing drop offs in Canterbury and Thatchham.....Great weekend with great people!!!! ;D ;D
Oh and the car still smells like a woodburner ;D
Andy
-
anyone see this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QELK2Y4zuY&feature=player_embedded

Oops !! Bet he felt a bit of a wally ..... ::)

Saw the aftermath of the accident at the time but not the accident itself. he tried to say he didn't know what happened maybe the throttle jammed. seeing that he got on the grass and the rest is history.
Another lucky marshal stood right a the end of the armco :o
Fantastic race with quite a few odd incidents like the Mclaren going out in the 1st 15 mins & the 458 being excluded for not doing a drive through :-[
Lots of good 24 hour race this year, hope the Britcar 24 will carry it on
-
Apparently the driver went up into the paddock bar, on top of the pit building and got hammered after the incident. His drunk behaviour must have been pretty bad, cause he got arrested by the police at midnight, while still in his race overall ;D
-
OK, that looked fun. Please hose Randy off and send him back... ;D
-Lee
-
He'S getting hosed down in London by the look of it. ;D
-
Good race guys, did look for you ca peeps at the bar but ended up back down at the hop (Bob Sinclar is in da house) does anyone know who did his warm up as his set was much better ;D, what did amaze me is how steep Eau Rouge is viewed from the bottom :o when seen on tv it looks like a sweeping climb. Spa seems much more spectator friendly too with plenty of places to view and a more chilled atmosphere and less chavs.
