Having fallen foul of the "lets get married two weeks before Le Mans 2009" rule, it falls to me, to remind all male attendees of the greatest weekend on earth, to keep it firmly in their pants for the next few weeks.
We are approximately 9 months away from LM2012, and if she gets up the duff now, you'll be staying at home not just in 2012, but throughout your childs life.
Should you require a release during this time of abstinence, please see Big H, for a list of "midgets with piles" porn sites, and Andy Zarse for advice on the most appropriate sock to use in such an emergency.
Thank you for your attention

Good call. I personally find this would help also -

I'm trying to work out why this warning should only apply to the male contingent of LM goers. Surely the same applies to the birds who attend as well.
When I first got bitten by the LM bug I wondered when the optimum time to have a sprog would be so it didn't screw with my week away. Turns out 'never' was the best time - especially once Sebring, Spa, and Petit got added to the list.

Not wanting to put further dampers on this but when I was planning my monkeys, I made sure that "wellington boots" were worn from the months of August right through to October just to be safe! It worked! Both were born safely outside the LM window.
You know it makes sense Rodney..... ;D
-
Sensible advice indeed
-
It has been pointed out before Brad, but there's no harm in bringing it to the attention of younger folk every now and then.

Thank's Brad made me laugh ;D
I've already planned ahead for 2014 70 years after D Day ;D Our wedding anniversary is June 5th & I'm gonna be in France for possibly 2 weeks that year :)
Is 3 years enough warning ???

Better still, wear your wellies all year round and then there'll be more fuel to go round for the rest of us. >:D

Don't ask me, the sock had gone missing when I came home from the pub on Boxing day with five pints in me...
And lo, a junior Zarse was born on 6 October, and Chris Zarse has one baking at the moment too. The buggers keep you awake at night even when you're not at home.
Brad I would piss my pants if you ever had one to coincide with Le Mans.
-
It wouldn't overly surprise me either....
Unfortunately, having been trying for a sprog for nearly 2 years, I probably wouldn't care that much if that's the way it happens - Sadly for my child, it would grow up believing that Daddys aren't allowed to see children on their birthdays, in a similar vein to the father christmas and easter bunny lies that we all tell children :)

Hearty congratulations Andy, I shall be raising a glass or 2 of Henry Westons Vintage cidre to celebrate the arrival of junior tonight. Spare room is your saviour and a good glug of night nurse, that or go away on extended business trips, worked for me ;)
On the up side, just think in a few years they'll be coming to LM. My lads first trip will be next year to the classic Whoohoo ;D
-
Congratulations Andy
I will also toast Junior Zarse with a couple of fine ales, I trust Mum is well recovered from what you have done to her!!!!!!!!! ;D >:D
Best wishes to you both
-
Congratulations Andy. It would now appear you've finally managed to ruin her for other men. ;)
-
Braaaaad?
-
Most of us realized that Brad never listened to any advice anybody gave him.
We now realise he doesn't even listen to his own advice. ;D
Congratulations Brad and Caroline.

I trust, Mr Z, that your pants are well and truly soaked. >:D ;D >:D

Alright alright alright......
Please officially accept my resignation of the "i'm never missing Le-Mans again club" as I am officially OUT for 2012.
Frankly, I couldn't care less. We've been through hell and high water to get here - but yes, it's official, I am having a baby in June. Just to spoil Andy's fun a little bit - he did know this when he posted his message.... It's great being a Zarse sometimes.
I would also point out, that I nearly passed out at the precision of the whole thing. Yes, my baby's due date, is PRECISELY the 15th June 2012.
However, I shall return - probably in 2013, and probably a slightly different person to the one I have been in the past (not bad different, but perhaps less able to cope with beer constantly :) )
Thanks for all of the good wishes so far - my facebook wall is awash with them! Thank you all.
Brad
P.S. I'd really appreciate it, if any facebook comments refrained from mentioning the LM clash. The wife is hyper sensitive about it - mixed with hormones, and morning sickness, frankly it's an argument I could do without - I'm only just recovering from the bruises acquired when I did the maths..... :)
-
All timing posts removed from FB.
Having had issues producing our 2, we know what a joy it is making it to the 2nd trimester.
Also know the frustration of keeping it quiet till then as well.
Best wishes to you both.
Barry & Jo.
-
Thanks Barry - I've tried to explain that it's inevitable, but she's full of hormones, so to be honest, she'd argue that black is white at the moment :)
Worry not, Paddy has taken up the mantle of posting about the frankly, lousy timing!

Crongrats Brad and yr misses :)
One of my lots second child birthday is the week before LM and his first born is 3 weeks after. He's missed a couple of races but his misses actively encourage him to go before the second one was born but he chickened out as deep down he knew brownie points would have been deducted ::)
-
Yes, my baby's due date, is PRECISELY the 15th June 2012.
Impressive. ;D Congratulations to you both.
-
First child?
It'll be late.
Plenty of time for LM. Trust me ;)
Our 1st 2 were 15 days & 14 days late. Both had to be forcibly evicted.
Number 3 was 'only' 7 days late, but at least he came out if his own free will.
Good luck!
-
Oh no....this is my child....it won't be late - it'll be spot on, the most awkward timing possible - it can only be that way.....
Sadly, even if there is time, I can't cope with the hassle I'd get - even if she promised me no comeback, no consequences, etc, I'd still not go....on the one hand, I know she'd be lying - and on the other, I wanna meet my child! I couldn't bear it if I wasn't there!
That said, She did turn around the other day and have a ten minute conversation about my going to LM in 2012 - it was great - she was saying how good it would be for me after the stress of the birth etc - on and on she went...... The conversation ended with "of course, I'll have left you by the time you get back, but you crack on".....Seriously, Pregnant/hormone pumped women are like normal women, with more aggression, sarcasm and violence built in.....
-
can i run the club now as my mrs will not be expecting any time around June i can tell you that now!
Well done Brad ;D
-
......my mrs will not be expecting any time around June ......
You will have to come up with some other feeble excuse for your annual non-attendance next year in that case!!
:)
-
Maybe suggest a 'camping holiday' in July 2013. Then make a mistake when booking the ferry.
In all seriousness there are gites/château available within striking distance of Le Mans and the area is pretty nice if you head further south, make it a family holiday with benefits. You may have to coax in-laws or the such to go as well to provide cover.
-
Let just wait till the sprog pops out, and then help Brad his vacation for 2013, because then we will know in how far he needs our good intended idea's. ;)
Not sure whether I already said so Brad, but many congratulations. This will defenitly be a lifechanger, but doesn't mean you can't act stupid once in a while. ;)
-
Yes Brad next year is out for you and me, but for following years we will have to look at all going over on a Eurocamp deal and leaving the Girls and Sprogs at the campsite while the "Boys" escape to La Sarthe ;). We will return ;D
-
Airtrack or someone is missing a trick. A spa break close enough to Le Mans to be able to attend while your partner enjoys a weekend of pampering!

house buying hopefully this year
-
My son was born 11 years ago in September. He doesn't forgive me for missing his birthdays due to Spa and Nürburgring trips. He came to LM last year and was a great companion, didn't say a word to his mum either. He's definitely up for 2012!
-
Hmmm............ just "found out" that my wife has her 40th birthday on the 15. june............. :o
maybe she even has a birthday that time of year every year?
Well as she did not mind me going the last 7 years, why should this year be different ???
So tickets booked and campsite reserved :D
See you in June on Karting Nord.
