Brittany have opened up their booking window for the main event and the Classic.
-
Booked for the Classic this morning 8)
-
Robbing barstewards, will wait for LD to come on line, £528 for a car and four passengers >:(
-
Ouch.
Classic week is much cheaper. £245 return for two with cabin.
-
Paid £78/head for self & 3 pax this year.
BF want £238 for a standard car, driver & 1 pax in 2012.
Think I'll use the tunnel.

You better recheck fuel costs and tolls, without cabins the costs were closer than I thought.

Pompey - Caen Overnight w. seats £140/each. With cabin add £40 each
Pompey - Cherbourg £149 each
Dover - Calais £137 each
Eurotunnel £148 each
For Caen I'll either need 6 nights away, or miss Weds [& Sunday night]
Checked all distances & 2012 tolls.
Not much we can do about exchange rate & fuel prices, but I'm assuming my new diesel-powered vee-hiccle will achieve 40 mpg on cheaper French gazole which is £1.16/litre by the Eurotunnel terminus today.
Also reckon that I can get away with a slightly later - say lunchtime - Eurotunnel which doesn't require an early off time from Le Mans.

Remember that the systems which govern these bookings works on demand. If there's an influx of demand over a few days, then the prices automatically go up - it's called Yield Management.
If you're flexible on dates, I'd suggest waiting a good few weeks, let the prices settle, then whack the order in!
Or wait for LD Lines to come online :)

LD lines aren't the bargain they used to be, compare prices before you book is the sensible thing to do.

There's a fine line between providing a service and being theiving bastards I reckon. Just like there's a fine line between a plug ugly midget, and one that's rather cute. Have you been watching that series on Channel 4 where 7 midgets are living in a house, it's fantastic, - they had a game of hide and seek one week and one of them hid underneath a scatter cushion! Anyway, I'm getting excited now, and that's not the point. Well, it is the point, but you know what I mean...
Anyway, I found it interesting booking travel to Toulouse earlier in the year. Basically the task was to get two people from the south of England to Toulouse, and the options I priced up were:
Drive all the way, via the Tunnel.
Drive, including an overnight ferry with a berth from Portsmouth.
A late crossing from Poole to St Malo, cheap hotel in St Malo, drive on down in the morning.
Cheapo jet to Toulouse, hire a car for a week on arrival.
Train, - St Pancreas-Paris-Toulouse, Hire car.
I was amazed to find that all options came out with a total cost of just a few pounds from each other. In other words, the travel companies had done their homework -(or entered into a cartel...).
Whether the cost would be the same for a midget, I cannot say.

PS Their game of drunken Twister was a rare and marvellous thing to see, - the little guys weren't big enough to reach all the spots without lying face down and spread-eagled. After more than a couple were involved it looked like a skydiving stunt gone wrong.

I've booked the ferry now, and was suprised that the cost for the same crossing for this years event was the same for next year....whoooo hooo!!!!
So out on Weds at 08:15 and return Monday 16:00 Portsmouth - Caen for a mere £208 quid.
Now I have to find a pitch 500yards from the "Gloucester Boys" so as to try and get some shut eye occasionaly whilst on MB. ;D

BigH should be made to make at least 2 posts per day to cheer the spirits of our crumbling nation. That post made me laugh for the first time this week.
Good on yer H.

This proves that Big H really was watching the show... and I suppose the fact I know that proves I was watching too!

I've been avoiding that programe due to midget phobia. Probably the trauma caused by being dragged onto a London stage for a 'hilarious' Charlie and the Chocolate factory sketch, as an eight year old when my grandparents took us to watch Ken 'check ma teeth' Dodd and is freaky diddy men. Little f**kers were everywhere. I left the stage in tears. Bastards.

That alone should have been enough to get you onto some kind of social services list.

It was just the beginning. We endured Paul Daniels the following day and Roger Whittaker a few days after. Granny did love a show. I've hated whigs and whistling ever since. Bastards all of them.

Would definitely be classed as child abuse these days.

Ken 'check ma teeth' Dodd
At least it was only his teeth he asked you to check LB.

Frank Carson gave me a half-eaten packet of custard creams when I was nine.
