Knowing how hopeless we are in the NW trying to organise half a dozen people to turn up in a pub, I think it is time to start thinking about our pre-christmas meet!
If we are looking at a Saturday night, at present I can do 5 November, 26 November, 3 December or 10 December.
Back to the Cheshire Cat or try somewhere else?
Any thoughts anyone - Liverpool Boys?
Everyone welcome of course... regardless of home location.
F
-
The only date free is the 5th November for me ::)
Fran you are more than welcome to come to Alex's birthday party on the 3rd Dec thou, go karting followed by a Chinese but could be poss to meet up after his party;D
Jules
-
I have added 10 December as another option.
Birthday party, go karting and chinese sounds fun tho... how old are the other drivers - do I stand half a chance or will it be shameful humiliation like my last effort?
F
-
11 and 12 years old's Fran so what do you thing, no doubt they are all play GT5 or Forza aswell so I doubt it ;D
-
Possible dates that I may be able to do
Saturday 29th October
Saturday 26th November,
Saturday 10th December,
Saturday 17th December
Also available most Friday evenings if that suits anyone better as weekends are ovtherwise full on the run up to Xmas, with motorsport events, rugby 4 nations and concerts.
-
Idea sounds good, but I have to be flexible with dates as have lots on
some I can change or ignor, others I can not
So will have to see what dates come up as favorite
What about center of Chester, as there are now more choice for eating and now a few more cheaper places opened for staying
-
Due to a change of family plans the 10th December is now good for me, but the 17th is now not possible as it the cricket club christmas party.
Centre of chest is good for me as its only 15 minutes walk home or 30 mins after a good night out ;D
-
December 17th I'm away but I should be ok for the others as if I'm working the weekend I'll finish at 5 anyhow in Chester!
-
Are we any closer on agreeing a Day ???
Calling the Liverpool Boys...............
-
I think we can all do 10 December.
I havent heard from Gordon, tho i did pm him. (His profile shows he hasnt logged in since May)
No word back from any LBs.
So, now for a location - somone with better local knowledge than me needs to come up with suggestions (unless you are all coming over to Manchester!).
F
-
So here's an offer for Neil and Kev..........if we head over to "Madchester" for a change as I've not been for a while, I will pick you both up and drop you back home
Over to you Fran.... :-*
-
I am happy to welcome you to my turf!
In fact, quite by chance, I have been doing a bit of research on the tiled pubs of Manchester just this afternoon!
:)
-
Manchester is fine with me also, preferably somewhere with a car park though.

Manchester does not exist, like the land of Oz

p.s - all sounds good to me, as long is the booze some where over the Rainbow ;D
-
Does that make me the Wicked Witch of the North West?
;D

What about a curry afterwards down Rushholme? Any recomendations Fran?

TBH everywhere on the curry mile is pretty much the same (my two favourite curry houses have shut down!) but there are a couple of good ones in the city centre without the fuss of getting down to Rusholme.

Jules - Your watching the Indian F1 as you type that ;D

Manchester is fine with me also, preferably somewhere with a car park though.
I dont think any of the city pubs have their own parking but there is plenty of multistoreys and on-street (no free on-street parking before 8 pm)
I might be able to sort spaces in my work car park but wouldnt know till nearer the time.

as Jules has offered a lift (thank you sir) im up for a trip to that place called Manchester

I'll be wearing a mankini anyway.

Did I say you were? I was merely suggesting that (in the style of Will Self), wearing a GJ helps one to integrate!
I am sure in certain parts of Manchester wearing your mankini will have much the same effect - so go for it.
:)
-
Well, i was thinking that a night in Manchester isn't complete without an hour down The Village
;D

Attendees:
Jules
Neil
Kev
LB
Chris24
Fran
No word still from Gordon or any Liverpool Boys.
We havent really fixed a meeting time/place or booked a table, but can look at that nearer the time!
Should be able to get free parking at my office and the Peveril is a good pub just near work, so can nip across to open the gates when needed!

Hi Fran
Is it the boozer in castleford area, was a yellowy painted building that sits out amongst some boring office buildings me thinks?
-
Well - I prefer to think of it as a classic green tile Manchester hostelry and an oasis of hoppiness!
http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/peveril-of-the-peak-manchester
I notice one of the reviews refers to it as being a short walk from town in Castlefield... but its actually pretty much city centre (unless you think of Harvey Nicks as being the centre of town). (Most importantly on this occasion, its just seconds from my work car park....)
F
-
Depending on work commitments I might be able to make the 10th. I'll ask if any of the boys are able to attened.
Mike
-
Would be lovely if you could be represented!
F
-
Sorry the 10th is out for me. Work calls
Mike
-
Sorry guys, I'm out. The Yellow Peril went bang half way down the A19 on saturday and as such I now no longer have motorized transport. I need to save my pennies to get the motor rebuilt. :'(
-
Things really arent going your way at the moment are they Si?!
Have you had any snow yet......?
::)
-
bad news from me im in work until 9pm on the 10th :( sorry ill have to bow out
-
Thats ok Kev - I have been speaking to Neil earlier today and it looks like we are going to cancel and re-arrange for some time in January.
I think he was going to try and contact you direct today.
We have more people that cannot attend than can!
F
-
i do need to call him but ive no voice so cant ::)
-
Shame this ain't happening now. Lifes life and has a nasty habit of getting in the way of fun.
Maybe wait until early spring and turn it into a pre LM / LM Classic planning meet? I'm hoping to have the Jensen up and running as soon as they stop salting the roads and a high speed run to Manc would be a good shake down.

Seeing as the southerners are planning a meeting in Reading, should we try and stoke up a little interest for a Northern meet? We could make it the LM Classic planning Meeting? Anyone up for it?
Sometime in May?
Si
-
When it comes to Northern Meets, piss-up and brewery are two words that spring to mind.... but without the actual piss-up or brewery involved! ;D
I am up for it, as always!
Flexible for dates, except can't do the first weekend in May.
F
-
Fran,
Great idea, however chocka block now on all weekends with ferrying Alex around to Cricket matches and practice sessions. Sunday matches start at 09:00 on a Sunday now :( ::) >:( Some will be over the other side of Cheshire, what's it like over there? ;D

F
I've just organised a northern piss up in a brewery this week. :D
Every summer I organise a Mountain biking event. It's got bigger year on year. We completed the route recces at the weekend and discovered that the campsite we have block booked has a pub next door with its own brewery behind it. Friday evenings ride has just been scrapped in favour of a brewery tour followed by a very thorough sampling of its products. The Saturday ride will be bad with a hangover as its a toughie.
Talking bikes, I'm throwing myself down a big hill in the Peak district on Saturday 26th May, so that would be my favoured date.
