Am off to Minnesota in a few weeks time, and thinking I of hiring a car. Would I need both parts of my UK licence, or would the photocard on its own be ok?
Thanks

Both parts

I concur - last time I hired a car in the US, they wanted both parts of my driving licence.

Hi Jason,
Some people have found it much cheaper to book and pay in advance from UK including Insurance. Most if not all will not rent to under 25 years old ( incase that applies to you) National will take internet bookings with just an email address though you still have to run your credit card through when you pick the car up. Minnesota will be nice this time of year if you like wind swept snow and freezing cold ;D

Thanks all, have had to call the DVLA to get a replacement for the paper part, but of course, they can't issue one without the other, so £20 poorer for losing it.
Hi Phil, oddly kinda looking forward to a possible snowy Minneapolis, mostly to see family there not my first choice of trip. And yup, I would normally book a car while at home, and as I have a few weeks to finalise side trip to Dayton, can work something out. And thankfully not going to suffer the under 25 rule.

I havn't got a second part to mine as I still have a one piece paper licence. That'll be an interesting car pick up at MCO in March.
